Hello my name is Ross and thank you all for allowing me to join! I'm looking forward to learn from you all.
My first car was a 91 Eagle Talon FWD non turbo back in 2004, I owned it for a year but it spent more time in the shop than on the road so I had to part with it. Still, after 18 years I miss that damn car and want it back
. Now that I'm older, with a bit more free time and available funds I'd like to restore one, I'm not looking to sup it up but rather keep it tuned down to close to original with a few minor upgrades. I'm not a mechanic, though I do repair airplanes so my hand skill should be up to the task. This will be my first restoration, so I'm looking for advice as to what to look out for in finding a good candidate for this project. What are some major game stoppers that I should look out for when finding a shell or what not, obviously rust but most of that can be weld repaired correct? unless there are some spots that would be too hard to fix body wise. I've already book marked the websites for parts I saw in the resources section and a few other forums I found.
I'm hoping to find a good 91TSi with sunroof. Don't hesitate to give me a shout and I'll take whatever pointers you can give, I do know a few car guys but no DSM guys in my circle of friends at the moment. I'll do my best to keep this up-dated through the progress of the build.
