okk i just swapped in a new tranny because my 2nd gear synch assembly went bad in my old one. now it seems that my clutch engages alot sooner than before, and that at times it grinds putting it into 1st gear, and most of the time into 2nd. i recieved the tranny dry, and dumped in BG synchroshift 2, and threw in a new mitsu TOB. ne idea why it would grind? i read that it could be my clutch adjustment, but since i didnt read ne previous posts that quite fit my problem, i thought that id post my situation and hope that some could help. thanks guys, David.

well now today i did some around-town driving with my pocket logger, (first time ive really used it), and i noticed that my tranny doesnt grind after it warms up, what gives? i really would hate to tear this one up. i hope someone can help me. other than that, the logger readings were great, runs like a champ, besides the occasional idle surge, which we all kno what that is. thanks, David

thanks alot man, ill try that. im just hoping its not a beaten clutch fork.

so i adjusted my clutch as much as i knowledgably can like some had suggested, which got rid of the 1st gear grinding, but now and then, it still grinds goin into 2nd. im real iffy on driving it until i can really determine what it is, since this is a newer tranny. i dont want to destroy this one. i love this car, and understand its possibilities, and id hate to not be able to drive it due to my neglegence. ne other help would be great, thank guys, David.

my 90 TSI is doing the same thing, tranny only has 60k on it, and shouldn;t be grinding.

i made the clutch peddle rod longer, and that helped some, but 2nd would still grind like a bi***.

so yesterday i played with the shifter adjustments, if i made it so 2nd wouldn;t grind then reverse worked great, but first would grind like crazy. so finaly i kindove found a happy medium between 2nd and 1st, 1st nolonger grinds, 2nd only when your downshifting, or you slam it into 2nd, and reverse you sometimes have to work alittle to get it to stay in gear.

hopefully we can both figure this out. im ganna try and adjust my clutch peddle rod again, and hope that fixes it.

good luck

did the new sincro's have a clutch material on them or are thay solid brass? The ones with the lining dont work well with synthetic lube! :thumb: :laser:

i have no idea. i just picked up a used tranny, and swapped it in. itll work for now, til i get a shep tranny.
