ok i have a 90 tsi awd it ran like shit when i got it but it ran and had no cel. bought a new coil pack, plugs, and wires. and timed it. took it for my second drive ever in it and ecu frys. i took it out and it reeked of fish. well i swapped in a 91 eprom and a 91 pt. swapped pin out 6 and 14. it started right up but is now throwing a cel and trys to die if givin any gas. started looking around and found a few vac lines were unhooked and the wires on cylinder 4 injector plug were broke off. i am lost and dont even know where to start other then im looking into doing a vac delete this weekend to see if that helps and figuring out how to get a new injector plug with some wire on it. any ideas or suggestion would be awesome. i always wanted a dsm now i have one and dont want it to be over before it starts.

chances are you can get another plug for the injector with wires attached just have to cut and rewire . nad I can't remember if the 90 had something different ecu related than the 91 I swear i heard something like that but I might be wrong . But I'm almost positive you can get another plug with wires to replace the broken wires to the injector

Highlandgst- yes they are diffrent you have to switch pin outs 6 and 14 and switch to a 91 power transistor so ## tach will work right.

i have not checked any codes yet can you use an analog multimeter to read the codes. and for the vacuum delete what is a egr block off plate and where can i get one and do i have to have a mbc to do a delete all the diagrams ive seen are for a set up with an mbc.

sniver- what can i find an injector plug on besides another car.

Yes I believe they reccomend using an analog meter so you can count the sweeps......IMO if you plan on stickin with this car for a while buy a datalogger its probably one of the most useful things you could ever buy....it cuts troubleshooting times in half

I believe it should be on D.C.+ and then Rx100....I think that's how I did it I can't really remember but I hope that helps :thumb:

Seems to me that its a little deepep than just a TPS but its definitely not helping....take it off and test it....make sure the connector is plugged n before you take it off.....sometime mine comes off and it throws a CEL but I just have to plug it back in

ok and thanks for all the help ill check it out.
how do i test it it was all plugged in now i took it off. and any one else have any ideas of what it could be while im testing things.

no problem :thumb:....it shows you in your haynes manual how to test it i cant remember off the top of my head....im sure its on here somewhere too

also did you fix your injector wire?

Nothing beside cars that I know of. But many cars use our style injectors, and their clips will work, some look a bit different tho.
hondas,camaros,all 4cyl mitsus...plus tons more.

As for the haynes manual, I'd suggest saving your moneys and using these. This is a link to a post where the links to the 1g factory service manuals can be found in pdf form. I suggest you save these and refer to them in the future. If you need to take something to the garage, just print it out and off you go!

Like stated, if you plan on keeping the car a while get a data logger. 1) it will read codes and tell you what they are 2) it will allow you to test sensors (ie TPS) without removing them, and 3) it will make diagnosing much easier and quicker.

I also believe it is more than your TPS at fault, have you done a boost leak test yet?

His #4 injector wires are broke, that alone is enough to be the problem, add to that vacuum lines that went nowhere, and a bad tps. I know you all know what a dead miss feels like. Horrible, undrivable.

I forgot to mention a second ago, you don't have to block off the egr valve, leave it unhook for hte time being. and you can leave the stock boost solenoid in place, or hook it from the turbo outlet nipple right to the waste gate(lower psi than the stock solenoid)

Go to a junkyard, find a car with that kind of injector harness (they're very common), cut that sucker off and splice it in.

The TPS, coolant temp sensor, injectors, o2 and MAP sensors share a ground. One failing because of a wiring problem can throw codes for other systems. At least I had that problem with an OBD-I Honda. If wires are broken, that injector not working would cause lots of problems with your idle and everything else. Basically only when the engine is running. You'll only have problems if you start it.

I agree that its easy to print off the service articles but I still think that a manual is 20 bucks its definitely worth just buying it and having it

It's worth it if you only need it for basic torque specs, and sensor tests, but other wise know how to work on cars. If your not very familiar , then it can be to often, to vague to be of help to a beginner.

At $20, it can't hurt, I just have no use for non free, inferior products. Then again I am spoiled and have the hard copies of the fsm, dtm, and mpi diag books. Oh and a haynes, never opened.LOL

Yes I agree with you completely:thumb:

thank you for all the reply's. ok well ill be doing the vac delete tomorrow thanks for the info on that. let u know if it helps.

as for the injector no i have not gotten a new plug yet calling the junkyard today.

and testing my tps the diagram is different then my tps the plug on mine is at the fire wall not the sensor itself and is square not rectangular. ill look around for another diagram or something.

A common swap for the stock injector plug is from a caravan v6 or similar chrysler. They are easier to remove and dont break as often and there are usually a TON of them in any junkyard.
