I just got a set of 17" wheels put on my car and now I have a new problem. It was fine for about the first hour after I put them on then when I was going around a corner to the left I started hearing this noise coming from my drivers side front. It was very quiet at first but as I continued to drive it got louder and louder and started vibrating more and more. Under accelaration it does not do it at all and while braking it does not do it. While cruising and not under any load it is horrible. I'm going to tear it all apart when I get off work in a couple hours. All the lugnuts are tight I checked that since its very simple of course. Any ideas???

When you say "noise" what kind of noise are we talking about, cause there are many different kinds of noises that could be made. Is it a squealing? Rubbing noise? Does your steering wheel shake any when the noise is bad?

The steering wheel shakes a little bit but hardly at all and I can feel it in on the floor as well. It kind of makes a squeeling noise and it makes a popping noise as the tire is rotating but it makes the popping noise every one rotation of the wheel. Could it be my CV joint? I'm going to check to make sure the caliper is on tight as well. Just don't understand how this could have started by just by taking the tire off and putting it back on. It also stops doing it while under load and under heavy braking.

The tire size is 225x45x17 if that is what you are referring to. The actual offset im not sure about.

If it is the CV joint/boot it would most likely be the passenger side joint if the problem happens when you're turning left. I'd say have someone turn the wheel and look for a clearance issue, sounds like it's rubbing.

It does it with the wheel straight as well. Its not rubbing at all has enough room to clear the fender well. Im going to tear it apart when I get home in about an hour and check it out will give an update then. Until then any other suggestions are appreciated.

Sounds dumb but, Make sure all the lug nuts are tight, & the correct ones for the wheels. If they are not the correct lugs, they can loosen up & cause vibrations & noises. It makes sense, as your problem started an hour later, not right away . . .

I had this happen before, and it was due to the lugnuts not being the correct type for the wheel. They fit in the wheel and tightened and everything, but it was pretty tight. Once I switched to the tapered lugnuts, it went away.

Thanks for the posts. It was the lugnuts. The shop didn't give me the key to tighten them either so I had to pick it up. The lugnuts are super small and skinny as well I wonder if I can find a different set that will be able to work with these rims because the holes on the rims are just big enough to fit the lugnuts and the socket key. Hopefully this time they wont come loose again or ill have to look into getting different lugnuts.
