new guy needs help

I need help with a car problem. I am new to the DSM's. When i turn the wheel my radiator, a/t temp, and battery lights come on and i lose power steering all while idling. My car is also over heating.

Did you have your alternator checked? Usually when your dash lights all come on, Your alternator is dieing. As for the overheating issue, Did you check your coolant level? When does it overheat? Do you get bubbling over fluids in the overflow bottle? Did you flush the system and change the rad cap and thermostat? Did you do a compression test?

no i haven't the prob just happened, The fluid level is good, I get the bubbling in the overflow, it overheats only when the car is under a load or interstate driving, no i was going to change the rad cap and flush it next weekend.

I was outside working on it and i tightened the belts and the belt going to the alt started squealing and then just snapped i just replaced it like 7 days ago what could cause this i no this has probably been covered a million times so i am sry.

Doesn't the alternator, P/S, and water pump all run off the same belt? It could be that one of the other accessories is bad. Check the P/S pump pulley and water pump pulley to be sure they spin freely. The overheating problem to me kinda ties this and your alternator together with a faulty water pump.

Check your crankshaft pulley for seperation problems. A squeeling belt will break pretty quickly, they have to be pretty tight on dsms. All of this sounds related to me.

i also had the same problem last week. mine was the crank pulley. double check that since its only held together with rubber.

Thanks everyone I am going to do a complete cooling system overhaul, I am going to put a OEM belt on and change out the crank pulley. I figure I should be able fix the problems with this.

I put the oem belt on and tightinged it tight and it still squeals upon start up till it gets warm them it just does it when i give it alot of gas. It is still overheating but it only does it when i am driving and i keep consent trottle when i let off for a couple sec it goes right back to normal. I am puting all new pulleys a fluidamper and hoping this fixes it i am still stumped bout the overheating thing anyone have a clue what this could be any help would be great thanks.

if your having idleing problems while turning the steering wheel,it may be the powering steering pressure sensor on the pump itself,this sensor when under pressure(turning the steering wheel) tells the ecu to up the idle so the engine wont stall. check to see if the wire is still good too. As for the overheating, that could be a number of things, from a bad water pump, timing could be off(yes it can cause overheating), a clogged raddiator, to big or thick of a front mount,or a radiator fluid leak.

Make sure your fans are working! An idle problem can be a vacuum leak or an idle speed control motor.

the idel problem is fixed thanks for your help i am putting a new water pump on it to i hope it isn't my head gasket
