So my friend bought this 1991 GSX, it had been sitting for several years.
He said he put a battery and it started right up and he drove it home.
I came by to check out his new DSM and he wanted me to help him seafoam it.
So I poured the seafoam in the brake booster line, while it was idling, and some in the oil.
Then we shut it off for about 15 minutes, started it back up.
(It kind of didn't want to start after the seafoam)
But it started and was running good and smoking like a mofo of course.:sneaky:
Then he drove it around the block a little bit and it died and now it won't start.
It is still turning over but just not firing up.
I checked and it didn't have spark at the plug wires..
But it was late, I didn't get a chance to really look into it.
Before I go back to help him get it running, I figured I'd check with y'all to see what exactly I should be checking out.
Remember I'm a 420A guy, kind of a NEWBIE to 4g63s.
Thanks in advance, I really want to help get this car started up again.:thumb:

Its probably all that carbon build up on the spark plugs causing the car not to fire. Just keep trying:thumb:

Yep, its a good chance it could be that. test the power wire from your maft. Thats unusual for the car not ot have spark as soon as you turn it off now it dosnt want to act right. And test the plug that goes into the resistor too. But spray those plugs with brake cleaner and try it again. But since you used seafoam it cleans all the gunk carbon trash etc out the engine and sends it out the exhasut so I believe something just got dirty.

Try picking up a new set of plugs. You are supposed to change the oil and spark plugs after a good seafoam session anyways.

So I finally got a chance to go look at the car.
It isn't getting spark at all, when I pulled one of the spark plug wires and had my friend turn it over I saw absolutely no spark.
I pulled the plugs out too and they are dirty but not terrible.
I checked every fuse and none were blown.
I cleaned the MAF sensor plugs and even tried to start the car with it unplugged.(just for the heck of it)
Why did this car just die and loose spark completely?
Might it be a bad coil pack or did the ECU blow a capacitor?A bad relay?
If it was a 420A I would most definitely change the coil pack.
But I'm not really sure, I have little to no experience working on 4g63s.
I don't even know where the coil pack is located. :D

Well pretty easy to find the coilpack, just follow the plug wires back (its on the right side of the manifold. Id swap in a coil pack that you know is good, and start from there. When cars sit for prolonged periods of time, things tend to not like to work after a while.

Were there any check engine/dash lights?
