New Engine- Blew mine

I blew my engine the other day. i need a new engine i was wondering what anyone would recomend. i have my car at a mechanic right now and he said he found a used 2.0 n/t engine for $1800, he hasnt called me back on the details. i have a 18 g Greddy turbo if that makes a difference to which engine i should choose. i do not know too much about problems like these so i can really use the help. but i was wondering if im better off goin with an engine from slowboyracing over the used engine.

Ok when you say you "blew" your engine, what exactly went wrong? Also you can get a turbo 4g63 engine for around 1200 bucks. Heres a link of where you can find some used 4g63 engines. http://roadraceengineering.com/4g63motorsearch.htm
You dont want to buy a non-turbo engine.

well i incorrectly installed my oil filter it came off, i lost all my oil while driving. my problem was instead of pulling over right away i tried to get to the next exit on the freeway. by that time she died.im an idiot.

thanks for the help so far, i was thinking the samething. my mechanic mostly works w german n/t cars so he wasnt too sure what i wanted to do. my next question would be, by getting lets say a 2.1-2.4 liter engine would my turbo still work with the new engine or am i just better off sticking to the 2.0.

ok now my mechanic found a long block 2.0 for a turbo for $1800 is this reasonable

I think you can find full 6bolts in the classfieds for cheaper then that

You call also get used japaneese engins on ebay for like 1200 to 2000 bucks plus shipping. And on these you get a transmission, turbo and all acessories too. You can also get these engines from diffrent companies on internet (not ebay). Just search for japaneese engins on google.

I just bought a 6 bolt off of ebay with everything, turbo, power steering pump, a/c, alternator and everything for 1150. And I tell you this engine is spotless. Granted I still haven't started it yet so hopefully everything is kosher when I do. But I am happy. For the $1800 you can buy this engine, new timing gear, water pump, B/S eliminator and complete gasket set and have a nice 6 bolt set up.

i checked out the sites you guys have provided but so far all i have found was on ebay the rest was about the same cost or they were out of inventory
