New car-clutch?

Whats up? I just got a 90 talon tsi AWD recently and I am the third owner. The 2nd owner said that the first owner put in a performance clutch and flywheel, but he doesnt know what kind. When driving it, at the catch point the car shakes like crazy and the pedal feels pretty stiff. I'm not sure if there's a problem with the clutch, but I was thinking that maybe it could be an ACT 2600 with the race disc? Any thoughts? Oh yeah, this is my first car and first manual car.

we cant really say what type of clutch it could be just from that. my advice would be to have someone who you trust who drive a 5 speed try driving it. that way you know if its the car or the driver.

take off the rubber boot around the clutch fork, on the bottom of the trans.,and look at the pressure plate. if its yellow you know its an ACT at least. you might possibly be able to see the disk too, if there is springs on it it would be a street disk.
