Hello guys , im frustrated. There is my story , i had my car i done some upgrades and my old t25 started smoking so i took the intake off and checked the turbine wheel , it had a lot of shaft play. I decided to order a brand new BIG16G for my baby. I put it in and i testdrove it first time today , it was fine i didnt want to floor it because its a new turbo and needs some time to get working. so i floored a little bit like to 10Psi and deaccelerated and saw smoke coming out of my exhaust.  i cant tell how :notgood: that was . i have a SAFC2 but i didnt hook it up yet . I took of the intake , and checked the turbine wheel :dsm: :thumb: no shaft play wahtsoever . WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM???? couldnt be oil in the intercooler? HELP PLEASE HELP HELP  YOU ARE MY PEPOPLE PLEASE HELP :sosad:

When you installed the new turbo, did you crank the motor over a number of times with the MPI fuse disabled so that you could prime it with oil? Do you have any leaks from the feed or return that may be getting on the downpipe?

If a visual inspection doesn't turn up anything, it's very likely that your T-25 was spewing oil into the downpipe from so much shaft play and the smoke you're seeing is the residual oil burning off from the inside. You could always drop the DP and have a look just to be sure. Also, it would be a great idea to clean out the intercooler and intercooler piping (lower) with gasoline or rubbing alcohol to remove any residue.

FYI, other than priming a new turbo, they don't need to be broken in.

Let us know what you find,

Andy

Thanks guys.I have no leaks "did you crank the motor over a number of times with the MPI fuse disabled so that you could prime it with oil?"<-- What do you mean by that ANDY?Cant be getting on downpipe because smoke comes out of the exhaust. You see the problem with my T25 was that it had in/out shaft play big time side to side was fine , and it smoked a lot when i turned to the right side , otherwise it just smoked when high rpm was reached. i know it cant be my motor because i had a new head and the car was fine before i changed the turbo. I have a FMIC Greddy intercooler and it would be pain in the ass to clean it , i have to take the front bumper off and stuff. for the SAFC2 my buddy promissed to hook it up for me because he has done it before , and i dont want to mess it up. Anyone could help hook it up ? Guys im lost , turbo has no shaft play and smokes? impossible?

what he means is : If you took the main fuse out or disconected the ignition coil plug to make the car not start, so it can crank and crank ti'll it build oil pressure on the line??

if you din't so, it will cause your turbo to run dry and .........well no oil no turbo.

If you're still on the stock gauge, it's pretty unreliable. Grab yourself an aftermarket gauge and you should see somewhere around 25psi at idle if you're making good pressure. As an example, cold motor start for me is 75psi, 25 warm and I can peg it to 100psi under boost.

Thanks to everyone who jumped in to explain what I was getting at. Shaft play on the T-25 could have loaded the inside of the DP with oil that needs to burn out. Run the car some more and see if it stops. Oil is pretty stubborn when burning off.

Also, what COLOR is the smoke. If it's blue, that's burning oil, white is coolant and black is from a rich condition.

More information would help.

Thanks andy , i have all the gauges installed A/F , Boost and Oil Pressure . The oil pressure seems fine , its just like you said idling about 20-30. The smoke is blueish white its oil for sure because i can smell it. i researched the color of smoke before . Yeah you think i should drive the car for a while , just not applying boost to the turbo or how should i drive it? Could be the turbo bad if it has no shaft play?

The seals could go bad and have no shaft play.

As already stated, pull the ic off and clean it. It can fill with oil and will smoke anytime you boost because it is pushing the oil of of the ic and into the motor. Either do what was advised or quit asking questions. No one can help you if you dont do what needs to be done.
