Ok my water pump pulley recently went on my car and its about time to do the timing belt. My first thought is to take it off the road and work on it over winter ( new water pump, pulleys, blue timing belt, cam gears etc) well i had a day off today so i decided to take a look and see what i'm getting myself into. So i drove my car up on some boards and put the jack under the oil pan and removed the motor mount ( the belts are already removed) and i'm lookin at the pully and its moved out like all the way the the side wall, its very loose so i just pushed it back in, theres only one way i found i could get to the 4 10mm bolts on it, but when i try to loosen them the pulley turns i even tried prying something up to it so it wouldnt move but no luck, also i loosened all the blots on the power steering pully so i could move it around but it seems to be stuck in place now?? I'm really having my doubts on doing this myself. My next thought is to buy the belts and pulleys, water pump and cam gears and have a place put them in, and i know the bill will be HUGE. But also i wanted to remove the head and intake manifold after that to do some work and 3 studs got snapped when installing the DNP. So if the shop gets all that done when i remove the head its going to mess up the timing. I just dont want to mess something up, there seems to be to many things that could go wrong.

Any input????

also where can i get pulleys from, do I have to go threw mitsu?

This is whats going in:
Cam gears
Timing belt, pulleys, water pump
msd ignition
injectors FMIC
turbo
all new gaskets
cv joints

The belts are the part that scares me... need help

Sounds like you are ready to get it done your self ;) Also to get a guy to do it for ya will run $400ish with camgears if he 500ish+ he is ripping you off.

Here is a link for replacing the timming belt
http://www.vfaq.com/mods/timingbelt-1G.html

Here is where you can get all the parts you need for timming belt replacement
http://www.prostreetonline.com/buy/pro_street_timing_belt_kits/mitsubishi/

Here is what the Timingbelt kit comes with.
4G63 Timing Belt Kit - bshaft belt, timing belt, tensioner pulley, water pump and auto tensioner

Also check the local sponsers on this site for cam gears.

wow you dont need all the pullys or cam gears unless you want to up grade you will still not need cam gears unless you get after maket cams.just buy a timing kit and a pump you will be fine .are you geting a biger turbo? if so you will need more than injectors, FMIC, turbo, you will also need a fuel pump . why are you getting all new gaskets? you can just replace the boot on the joint no need for the whole joint.
if your going to do all that just rebuils the whole thing but all you need is the timing kit and a pump

ya I do already have a fuel pump. I mean the car has more mods than my profile probably says cuz I'm dead even with my freinds Evo, he has 3in DP 3in Test Pipe, boost controler set @21PSi K&N Intake system.

But getting back to the subject ya I talked to my freind and he said he does motor swaps and timing belts all the time. He said it would be alot easier to pull the motor. So thats what I'm debating on doing.

Thanks Josh
