Need some advice on where to install egt probe for gauge that tops out at 1600 deg. ?

Everyone says to install it in cylinder 1 on the mani but I heard of some people actually going by the directions when there gauge tops out at 1600. I have the autometer phanton egt gauge. So what do you guys think?

There is a debate on it.

There are 2 places you can do it, Runner #1 or after the Turbo, there's a thread on it but I can't find the link.

Well you shouldn’t be going past 1600 anyway so it should be ok. I know people like to have a little slack but I don’t really think it is necessary. I would put it were everyone else has it just for comparison sake. So many DSMers have it there that you can compare info with out problem. If you put it somewhere else then your reading will be different and harder to compare. Just my .02

Does everyone else agree that 1600 is pretty much the cut off on how hard you should run your car? I'd be glad to put it in runner one then. I just don't wanna do it if people think that you should be able to go up to 1650 or 1700...?

Becasue of probe lag 1600 should be the limit.

Cool, thanks a lot man. Im gonna drill into the manifold then.

Put some grease in the drill bit or drill with the car idling so that you dont get a bunch od shaving in the manifold. Do the same with when you tap the hole. Good luck.

1550 is around the norm hi... but alot of people hit 1600+ on a reg basis with no probs.
