Need quick audio help

I just installed my amp and sub. For some reason the amp isn't working. It's all stuff that I've had in my car before, but it's not working now. It's getting power and ground, but nothing is happening. I have the power going from the battery, through an inline fuse, to the amp. Ground goes right to the body. REM wire is going from the REM wire out of the cd player to the amp. RCA cables going from cd player to amp. Speaker wire going from amp to sub. I don't have the speakers hooked through the amp, just from the cd player and they work fine. There is a status light on the amp that is supposed to be green when it's working fine but it is red now. The amp is a Jensen 400w 4channel, sub is a 12" xplod, and head unit is a sony xplod as well.

Pull the bottom off and see anything's black, I smoked a 4 channel 400w Jensen back in HS because I was running at too hard, one day it just died and threw a protection light at me.

how did you wire the sub from the amp? cause my bro had the 720watt 2-channel and when we tried to bridge it the light turned red just like yours and produced no bass through the subs. that might be it, if not the amp crapped out on you. oh and if any of the resisters are fried in the inside you wouldnt even get a power light on the outside of the amp. let me know how you wired it and maybe i can help. good luck

I bridged it. RR+ to LR-. That's how I had it running before.

I just did some more testing on it. The red lights turns off if I disconnect the RCA cable. But if I disconnect the power or ground or both it doens't effect it. The ground has good continuity with the body of the car. The fuse in the power wire is good, as are the two on the amp. The power wire is weird tho. I'm only getting 3.x volts at the amp. I'm getting 12 volts at the fuse in the power wire. But, when I pull the fuse in the power wire, I'm still getting 6 volts on the side not connected to the battery. I know that's wrong. Think something shorted out inside?

Just pulled the amp apart and it looks fine. It's got to be something with that power wire. Maybe it's just bad because there's no way I should only be getting 3 volts at the amp. I'd rip it back out tonight and check the continuity of it but it's ####ing cold out and snowing.

Also, I tried not bridging it and it didn't change anything.

Pull the bottom off and look at the metal leads from the RCA jacks, another problem I had with mine is one of them pulled off the board and was touching the other one, I had to resolder it.

I doubt it because the red light is supposed to turn green when it's good, but it just turns of completely.

Oh well, I have another set of RCA cables, I'll swap them in while I'm at work tomorrow.

Fixed it. It was a bad ground.
