plz help question on welding????

Hey all,I need a welder badly,I was thinking on pick one out on this Sunday(day off)I need to buy a welder for my project...can someone give me some info on welders like...good brand,what size amps to get,what not to get.I will be using this welder only for my car(just hobby work,nothing major like job related)
