I have a 98 RS and recently got a complete set of factory side skirts and door moldings.

Being my car doesn't have the factory holes for the push pins, I was wondering if anyone could give me some measurements, pics or advice on how and where to put the holes for the push pin fasteners, and I'd also like to know what type of bolts are used to secure the side skirts under the body.

I'm still doing prep work on the car... it has some surface rust on the lower doors and has a small dent, so It's gonna be at least a week until I get the time to put the skirts on.

There are a couple...my recommendation would be just to get this kit (or piece it together yourself). There are actual square cut outs underneath so you could just use self tapping screws if need be.

You can measure/mark them yourself to drill the holes. You will also need to do it on the underneath of the main skirt as well. If you can wait until tomorrow I can get actual pictures since everything is off for paint. But you can actually sharpie (make sure it's wet) the pieces where the pop ins would go then align it, and press it on. The sharpie should transfer onto the body of the car.

Thanks for the link, that kit is exactly what I need. I also like the sharpie Idea, I was thinking something similar myself.

Ahh, I also need to know the diameter of the holes.

Other than the clips, push pin fasteners and bolts is there anything else used? I know occasionally silicone or even double side tape is used... I just wanna do this right the first time. :)

I'm currently scouring this site, others and google looking for helpful pics and finding nothing...

I've decided to have my brother-in-law (who works at a bodyshop) do the skirt install for me so it's done 100% correctly. Plus, he's gonna do some other bodywork and paint. Can't wait for it to be done...will post pics on completion.

Nice! you got the hooked up. haha I remembered when I had to jb weld the plastice piece that was broken and I had to ordered some more clips and squared plastice piece to hold the side skirt from underneath. Lot better than buying a new skirt.

Yeah, I'm lucky to have local family working at shops. My uncle is installing headers and exhaust for me this week too, which is awesome.

I was gonna try and install the skirts myself, and it may have turned out Ok, but I'd rather have a professional do it so they don't get ripped off in the car wash! haha

Totally forgot about this thread, sorry. Do you still need pics and/or dimensions of those square cut outs? If you buy that kit I linked you too before you can kind of get the idea for the size. Let me know or shoot me a PM!

I wouldn't worry about silicone or double stick tape. Between the bolt, screws, and push-pins they are more than secure. Just have to get used to your footing ;). When I had the Eclipse side skirts, I constantly would kick them/step on them entering and exiting the car. I have Talon side skirts now and IMHO, compliments the car so much better!
