Need help on this one guys..i recently bought this pretty little 97 GS with a turbo thrown in it and I've owned it for about two weeks now and just relenty was riding down the highway and the entire car begins to shake after i hit about 50mph and I'm in gear and actually on the throttle...what has gone wrong?

Hmm, could be alot..
Does it shake like a "suspension" shake, or a jerking motion from the motor? Im willing to bet your running a missing link, or something to do with fuel cut. Were you in boost when the "shaking" happened?

I have a 420a turbo as well, been running just 8psi for about a year stock internal.

If the entire car is shaking, it could be a couple different things.

First check the simple things...check your tires and suspension. If the car begins shaking once your at 50 or higher, it is likely something to do with that.

On a 420a turbo, if you do not have proper tuning and fuel support, the intake map sensor will cut the fuel to the system due to the unregistered amounts of boost that the ems is not used to. When you have this problem your boost will build and then suddenly your car will drop power...kinda like a shake, but stops when you let of the throttle and let the ecu catch up with the intake pressure.

But I would recommend checking all your suspension components first. I remember this summer I was driving down the highway and the front of my car started shaking due to some lug nuts that came loose...

Good Luck!

well it only happens on speeds of 50 an up and ive checked things like the tires and suspension, can't find anything loose adn noobsauce I'm new to the DSM world and I currently am just getting used to the car and it's ins and outs. I believe i was in boost when it happened and the shaking is def. coming from the engine bay area not the tires or suspension...hmm...anyone know what might have gone wrong?

If its the engine bay area I would start out with a BLT (boost leak test) and then verify whether you have a FCD or a missing link. If its a missing link I'd check the filter on it and start from there.

But given what you said I still personally think its a suspension issue. If it was a fuel issue it would happen before 50 also. So I would start looking at all lower control arms, wheel bearings, and axles and what not.

Also your profile states you have "larger injectors and a nice tune for 6 psi".. Care to elaborate as to what your using to tune with since it doesn't say in your mods list.

i found out i need both front tie rods replaced and the drive axle...setting me back 400$ :(
