I tried searching for the answer and haven't had any success.

I decided to install a remote start/alarm in my recently acquired 98' GST Spyder. I used the wiring locations posted in the tech forum.

I was confused when I got to wiring the door locks. The tech post mentions a lock and unlock wire, no other wires, and not much other information.

The alarm harness is wired like this;

pin 1 VIOLET: Lock and unlock common input
pin 2 BROWN: Unlock Normally Closed
pin 3 BLUE: Unlock Output
pin 4 WHITE: Lock Normally Closed
pin 5 GREEN: Lock Output

I assumed that the Eclipse was a two wire system (using grounds) that they did not need power, or a relay, and hooked them up to the alarm outputs. So the unlock wire is connected to the unlock output, and vice versa for lock. The other wires are not being used.

The problem is the alarm is not locking or unlocking the doors. Strangely when the doors are unlocked, sometimes it sounds like the alarm is trying to unlock them again. I can't verify that however, its just an assumption based on the noise I hear.

Any thoughts or suggestions that could help me resolve this would be greatly appreciated. :banghead:

I am probably wrong but I think all you need is to connect the output lock/unlock wire from the alarm to the lock/unlock input of the switch on the door....been a LONG time since I wired anything soooo I'm probably wrong. Hope you are not to mad at me for wasting 37 seconds of your life. :D And if that is wrong maybe you can tell me the wiring colors of the switch on the driver door since my GS-T spyder caught fire or I would look. :(

What kind of alarm are you working with?
Alot of DEI alarms came with a relay pack to assist in wiring different lock configurations but rarely needed it. To further assist you I would like to know what you're working with. Most vehicles require a 200ma negative pulse to operate, which most alarms are capable of doing.

We really need to know what brand and model it is.

It's a Scytek Precision Pro 500, so it's not DEI but a clone.

I was thinking maybe the unlock pulse setting was off? Maybe it needs to be on a different time setting (1, 3, 0r .1 seconds) or a double pulse?

The green alarm door lock output goes to the vehicles brown/white stripe wire

The blue alarm door unlock output goes to the vehicles brown wire.

These 2 wires are located in the drivers kick panel harness.

Those are the only 2 connections that need to be made as far as the door locks are concerned.

Did exactly that and its not working. I am going to have to pull out a multi-meter and check the connections I guess.

Ground your Violet wire on your relay pack, and terminate the Brown and White wires separately. This should fix your issue. Also, the .1 second pulse should be sufficient.

That did the trick, thanks a lot. Makes sense now that you mentioned it.
