i have a 96 gs-t with 1g 6 bolt swapped in it and a 16g turbo... It was running great then this started happening yesterday. It seems to happen at random times... well, when im giving it gas.. it starts sputtering and accelerates very slowly even when i floor it. I changed the spark plugs and air filter, didnt help. Next fixes I was going to try was replacing the spark plug wires and the fuel filter. Would appreciate any help you could give or ideas of what it could be. Could use some recommendations for what wires and fuel filter to buy seeing as i'm a complete NEWB and know nothing about cars... yet. Thanks

i literally just had this problem with my car e few days ago. i started looking at the throtle body and noticed that one of those little plug things for the injectors (not sure what there called) had a broken clip so it wasn't fitting right. then i noticed my MAFS wasnt plugged in at all. but after i did that it started running great. but check the injectors definatly

Welcome to the forum... Ok heres what Ive experienced... I had a 95 GS non turbo that would spudder really bad and not accelerate so I changed the spark plugs and thought that was it and it wasnt...Then I changed the plug wires and it immediately solved the problem. So NEVER rule out your plug wires if your vehicle is spuddering and losing power. Most ppl just assume its the plugs and if they replace and it doesnt solve the problem they never bother with the wires. So I would suggest changing the wires first. Also on my current GST I have been experiencing major power loss and spuddering, I tried everything (Plugs, Wires, Coil Pack) And nothing fixed the problem, so then I noticed that it still had a piece of the stock plastic intercooler piping on it (the piece that goes under the fuse box) that was choking down the airflow. So I replaced that and I havent had anymore problems plus I got a very noticeable hp gain. So If you have the stock piping that might also be your problem.

Thanks for feedback guys... Tomorrow I will change wires.. if that doesn't work ill test for boost leak. Is there a easy way to check for boost leak? And for the spark plug wires.. do I want NGK wire set.. (new spark plugs I just put in are NGK) or do I want magstar.. or is there another brand that would be better?

I use magstar racing wires with NGK plugs, but IMO its a personal preference. Id go with whichever your wallet can handle. Im not sure of the prices of each

I really dont know, I think its from the resistance that each wire brand has..could also be the brand name that your paying for LOL. But like I said I use magstars and they do the job fine

and for the boost leak test, you can build your own with a few things from home depot or lowe's. I built one a couple years ago when I had an SRT-4 and I think it cost me $10-15 and a trip to a gas station (since I don't have an air compressor yet)

As others have said, check the MAFS connections, and all electrical connections in the area, for that matter, injectors especially. And be double sure all the wires are seated snugly into the ignition coil. While you're at it, feel/look around for any vacuum hoses or intercooler piping that could be loose. I've personally never heard of a hose blowing off at or near stock pressures though. If nothing seems amiss there, do a boost leak test. Actually, do one anyway if you can.

If you have access to a logger, hook it up and run around with it for a while to get some readouts as to what's going on in there. Might give you a clue if nothing else does.

also check the TPS. mine would go out randomly too. mostly after the car warmed up. after that was fixed i also needed new wires and plugs. test your coil, check your injectors and I think its called the transistor pack right by your coil. those can cause the same problem too. boost leak test i suppose, but this is rarely ever the case IMO, i've had three talons and at least five of my friends have had one too and we've never had any problems with boost leak. but wouldnt hurt to check i suppose. good luck!

Ok so... changed the spark plug wires, still not working... trying to change the fuel filter.. when I am trying to loosen the top bolt the fuel line uptop is moving with it. Any tips for gettin this thing out?

Any luck with this? I seem to be having the same problem - I have a 2.3 6 bolt swap that works fine most of the time, but after a hard pull it starts sputtering and running lean, with DSMLink throwing "Random Misfire" codes. Any help would be appreciated.

I know this is an old post but did you get this fixed? my car has the same problem I have changed my cas many times. I have no boost leaks and a very small leak on throttle body on a sensor but it should not effect it like it is.i was in a front end wrecka few weeks ago checked all piping and no leaks, I am running extreamly rich like the car is making up for too much air. but no real power. my down pipe was glowing red the other day and I thought my catalac converter was clogged so I put a new exhaust on and it still has no power. it is all most like the car is a n/a. and still not even enough power to be an n/a. any help would be very much appreciated because i am running pout of ideas. btw no mods except walbro 190 and an emissions delete.
