Need help Deciding 1g or 2g

I am really up in the air between the 1g or 2g talon.
I am looking to buy either generation in the spring in an AWD TSI version.
Heres where I cannot decide.
I really like the look of the 2G talon but I have been reading a lot about crankwalk and really don't wish for it to happen.
I am not saying it will or whatever but I am just being cautious.
I like the 1G talon's which are 1991 and under for the 6 bolt motor.
What I am really trying to get at is which one would be better?
I want the car to be somewhat reliable but work is expected as it is an older car and it is Turbo.
As for the use?
It will be my daily driver but parked in the winter and will some performance parts initially and eventually new turbo, FMIC,ect.
For those of you who maybe have owned both any advice?
I have done lots of research on both cars and theres both Pros and Cons.

Seems like a no brainer to me but then again.......ahem. I would get the 2g Eclipse because it just looks so much better. The 1g are ok but really fall victim to that ancient look. Many say 2g looks like a female car and I say even better because that means females will love hopping into it. If your all about racing get the 1g however if your into racing and style 2g is the way to go.

I ocassionally see 2g's with 6-bolt swaps in them on the market if your main concern about the 2g is CW. In fact, some people buy them not realizing they have a swapped car. Just be careful and make sure a reputable shop or knowledgeable person did the swap.

I had an avenger which has the same exact interior as the 2g's and I loved it...I ended up with a 1g...started a rebuild saw a 2g shell for sale....decided to go with it...so now I'll be back in the interior I love....its personal preference....the guy I bought the 1g off of said he has had both and the 2g's handle so much nicer than the 1g's...i wouldnt know yet....but I'll soon be finding out

Really made me think of more what I want the car for.
I am definitely more about performance than looks thats for sure.
Seems like the way to go is with a 1g Talon.
Now flip-up lights or not I still have to try and find one with a 6 bolt motor in it.
Other than that I think my mind has been made up.

Sure the 2G is nicer looking but I would just love having a somewhat ghost car.
Why not give those Honda's a huge run for their money?

The 2G appeals to be more practical but for the performance I want I think the 1g just fits my budget and gives me a better peace of mind.

Well cannot wait for the spring.
