I tried to look around a lil...But I guess I dont know exactly what to look for.

I just got my pistons done. Made em fit the 2g rods.

I was pressing the pins back in and on one of em it was waaay too loose. Like I could push it with my hands.

The piston is about .001 over sized from the wrist pin, which is fine with me...Those arnt a press fit anymore obviously. I thought though the pistons would still be. But after going back they all seem a little to easy to move on the press.

Is this ok?? I can find a postion where they grab better than the other spots, where it actually feels like a press fit. Or will they eventually pop out anyway?

I did find something saying the rods should be heated then have the pin pushed in. Would this help any?

Or should I try to go with some sort of floating pin method. I know I could mount the pin into the piston, but I guess I would just like a second thought.

Oh yea.....Im not buying new ones. Ill make em work one way or another before that happens.

Sounds like you need some measuring tools, or you need to take it to the shop that did the work and have them do some measuring.

I work at the shop that did the work......

I got it worked out.... Just did what the factory did to em to keep the pins in. Simple.

And why would I need to have em measure it???? I told you what the clearance was.

From the description you gave of the pin to piston fit, it doesn't seem like your capable of measuring or machining anything. I would either take it to a shop that knows what they're doing or throw it together and hope for the best.

Ok.....If you say so....

By your comments its clear that you know nothing about some basic machining knowledge.

The reamer was lightly oversized....Unless I had a custom one made, which would cost a lot, its gonna come out that size. Nothing you can do about it. Thats where the .001 comes in...Which is measured, not estimated.

The only thing is that I assumed the piston were a press fit. And there not. I did not touch the pistons or the wrist pin. So how then would I have ####ed that up. Like I said, the clearance with the rod and the wrist pin is fine.....

SO before you say shit how about you answer the question, or at least comment on something you read, rather than something you just feel like pointing out for no obvious reason.

By the way. I never said I machined this. I had someone else do it, and I would put money on them knowing much more than you or most anyone else on here anyday.

I figured out how to keep the pin in the piston...So whatever. Thanks for the lack of help anyway.

---And to clear any issue up with me pressing the pins back in...I figured out why they caught at times and not others. I forgot the term but the edge of the piston around the pin are smashed in to hold the pin...Thats what was catching...So I just did that after getting em pressed in. Merely re-did what the factory did first.
---Just noticed too...My first post I ment the rod is .001 over the wrist pin, not the piston, like I said, never touched those.

So why didn't you ask him?

Im talking about as far as machining goes...

He doesnt know that much about cars. Though he is the one that told me how to fix the issue...Just had to look at the piston.

And sorry for seeming cranky...Just one of those weeks.....The GF is sick, so that means no loving for me, and it sucks.
