I have been reasearching on putting a 4g64 block and crank in my car because I need a new motor. Im not looking to push any insane power, its just a daily driver. Im not worried about the whole crankwalk thing with a 7 bolt stroker because my car is an automatic so im sure if its assembled right I wouldnt have much to worry about. And since its an automatic im not worried about not having the top end power and free reving that a 2.0 has because the car doesnt shift past 7k.

What I wanna know is can I have someone like kar king build the 2.4 4g64 shortblock with everything stock except for the correct weisco pistons(4g64 block w/4g63 head) and have everything work out? I wanna just basically put all my 4g63 7 bolt parts onto the 4g64 shortblock to give me a little more low end. I know I will have to plug some of the oil passage holes up top, get the right cam gears, 4g64 timing belt, and eliminate the balance shafts.

In another thread I was reading something about having to machine down the driver side mount because its placed to high on the block to bolt in right, is this true?

Will the starter bolt right up to the 4g64 block the right way so that it can still spin the flexplate on startup?

Has anyone put a stroker on an automatic? If so did it improve the low end power and how was every day driving having more low end torque? Where there any problems with mating the 4g64 up to the auto tranny?

My setup will consist of the t25 and stock fuel to break it in and then put on a t04b v-trim along with 660cc injectors, 255hp, afpr, already got an afc, Slowboy frontmount, tubular 02 housing, 3in intake, maybe a maft, ported evoIII exhaust manifold, arp headstuds, new headgasket, and motor mount inserts(gonna do arp's, HG, and inserts when putting the shortblock together with the 4g63 parts).

Sorry for all the questions. I know I will get "use the search button" but I have been searching on dsmtuners about the 4g64 for 3 or 4 hours and I couldnt find all the right info and if I did I couldnt figure out if it was for 4g64 w/4g63 crank, 4gcs, 4g64 w/4g64 crank,...

Thanks

Well... For one, a lot of people are going to tell you that if your building a stroker whats the sense in building a low budget stroker when you can just use that money to build a 2.0, then turn up the boost past 20-22 psi??and put your vtrim turbo on there. And by looking at your future setup/goals, they are'nt anything out of this world or supernatural which means to me, you dont want or need a "tig ol burbo" (big ol turbo for the dumb asses) So... my answer to you would be to keep your 2.0 save money, build it up and get your v-trim turbo and boost that mofo to the ground and you'll prolly like it a little more than spending extra money on a cheap setup when you cant boost past however many psi cause of the stock 4g64 internals(which im sure arent as strong as the 4g63 hence the turbo)So stay 2.0 if you can only afford a low bugdet 2.4. Or if money is not a problem then go big or go home as we like to say in spades :thumb:

i would stay with a fully built 2.0.. being that your fwd it just makes more since to me.

Just my 2cents.

I just love how people start posts and never reply to them or keep up with 'em

so where'd you get your 6-bolt, and how much did it run you???did you have access to all the parts required for the swap or did you have to go scavange them from a junkyard or did you just flat out buy new parts???are you just putting in the stock 6-bolt or are you going to swap out the 7-bolt internals to up the compression??

Its a galant vr-4 motor from Soko, with tax the motor was about 1400. The motor came complete with just about everything, and all the other parts I scavenged from my 7-bolt or bought new OEM parts. I left the internals stock except for balance shaft eliminator kit. I am gonna use the cyclone manifold and try and make it work, and for the throttle body I am just gonna temporarily use my 2g one until I can get a USDM 1g throttle body. And along with the swap I am putting in a T04b turbo and Tial external gate. I cant wait to get this car running because 4 months of driving a piece of sh!t ford Taurus is getting to me, especially now that its summer.
