Ok I'm new to these forums and I want to know what this setup should be capable of realistically.

Here's all the parts I purchased and have in my garage for the build.

The car is a 1992 Talon TSI FWD 6-bolt

4g63 2.0L 6-Bolt Block bored (0.20)
Stock Crankshaft
Balancer Shafts Deleted
Rotating Assembly Balanced
8.5:1 Wiseco Fordged Pistons *0.20*
Eagle H-Beam Fordged Rods, pins and locks
Complete ARP Hardware (Mains, Rods, Head Studs)
Cometic MLS Head Gasket
H.V. Oil Pump
New Heavy Duty Radiator
Gates H.P. Blue Timing Belt (all new tensioner components)
Stock Cylinder Head
Crower 264/264 Cams
Crower Springs w/TI Retainers KIT
Adjustable Cam Gears
Coil-On-Plug Ignition
STOCK Intake Manifold
DSMLINK Engine Managment w/EPROM ECU
Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump
Larger Fuel Rail w/AEM Adjustable FPR
850CC or 1000CC Injectors (Havent Decided Yet)
Tubular Turbo T3/T4 Turbo Manifold w/External Dump
Full 3-inch Catless Exhaust
Large XSPOWER FMIC
5-speed FWD Transmission Completely Rebuilt by English Racing
ACT 2600 Clutch w/Street Disc

The things im undecided on are the Turbo Charger to use and the Injector size.

My goal is to have enough power to run mid to low 11's in the 1/4mile

This car will be mainly a street warrior and mostly raced from a 50+mph roll, im looking for some really good power since the majority of the cars I race in the past with my 12-second 1987' Subaru were Vette ZO6's, Mustang Cobra's, and a few 500hp SRT4's.

I would like some advice and comments from the DSM People who have expierence in some good builds.

I have no idea what these internals im using can handle?

Thanks in advance.

i'm sure you know this, but you're gonna have some fun trying to get any traction!

it looks like a pretty solid setup, when you get everything together, i'd just make sure you give the engine/clutch PLENTY of time to break in. You don't want all your hard work going down the drain because you couldn't wait a few more days.

Underradar92:

Don't fret the smallness of the 60mm TB, it can easily meet your stated goals.

I agree with that!!! I'm going to have my factory TB on my setup. It's not in profile, yet, since the car isn't done. Anyway, I have same internalls Wiseco's and H-beam, with exception of a 2.4 crank. I'll push it as far as 700+ WHP, but it will be a little later down the road.

Also when breaking in the engine, there's a "motoman" method or something like, that you should read, however a brand new clutch won't like. That's one thing I'm still thinking about.

i think 1000cc are over kill for what your "goals" are. i would stick with the 850's, unless your planning on running e85.

And what disadvantage is there with running 1000cc injectors? I don't know why so many people still have this mentality. It's not overkill if it costs negligibly more and will run basically the same.

Yes this is mostly true unless your engine managment isnt able to scale enough then drivability suffers, but the DSMLINK from what I have read can scale 1000's without an issue.

It's allways nice to have the ability to add fuel without changing parts, leaves more options open for the future.

I have looked into E85 and Nitrous so I would like to extra room for more fuel if need be.

then i guess you already knew that you were going with 1000's over the 850's. :sneaky:

but also, i dont know if it was mentioned above, but you wont need the BC springs and retainers if you only running 264 cams. aftermarket springs arent entirely necessary unless using cams larger then 272's.

as for turbo, a GT35R (65lb/hr) is a badass turbo. or you can get a little more out of a t67, t04r, etc (70lb/hr). they are all the same turbo. they also have ball bearing variants of those for i think $200 more then the standard bearing housing.

Yeah I know, LOL whats happening is im starting to get hooked on building a 700hp DSM instead of the 500-600hp DSM I first planned! LOL these videos on streetfire of DSM's rapeing R1 Bikes from a roll has me all pumped up LOL!!!! I'm amazed at the support a 1990's car, its truly loved by the world to be supported so much.

I've decided im going to go with the HKS 264/272 Combo since the reviews are good from people using them, im getting the valve springs from HKS now instead just to keep the valvetrain HKS LOL, I'm sending the springs and 264 cams back for a refund.

I would like to push the 272's one more time, I never had any drivebility issues with them and then after going 2.4 they were almost undersized. I would get the 1000cc so you have room to grow or run e-85 in the future and I would actually reccomend a gt 3065 since you will have better driveability than with the 35 series
