Need 95 Talon CTS Partnumber - OMG!

This story you will not believe !! I have a 95 talon, factory wiring, the Coolent Temp Sensor has the oval connector. I have bought FOUR SENSORS and NONE are correct! Autozone had wrong one (wrong readings), so did Advance Auto, (it had square connector). Finally I went to NAPA, and they had the oval style connector. (And asked them ten times if it was the right one!) HOWEVER, it gave the wrong temp reading to the ECU (verified by Link). Although my temp gauge was pegged, my ECU read like 180 degrees. I recall the manual notes, 2200-2500 ohms, and the one from NAPA measures well over 10,000 ohms at room temp. Thinking it may be just a 'bad one', it was exchanged for another one and the same thing. Finally, I said screw this and ordered an OEM one from J&Z...it came with the square connector, WTF! I returned this one. Finally, I asked a Dealer to provide a factory TALON CTS. I gave them my VIN as requested. They shipped me a MOPAR # 33004281, it fit, but readings are off. (when 70 Degrees outside and it reads 12 degrees at startup, tops out at 180, again verified by Link)

So, just because it 'fits' doesn't mean it works. It may eliminate your CEL, but the ECU will not work properly. (My fans don't even turn on!) We learned that the early 2G Talons had 'oval' connectors, the Eclipses have square ones. I have read that a Wells SU4293 is correct...but this is for an Eclipse (square conn). For the Talon, many 'vendors' note to use a Wells SU326...right connector, wrong readings! I just cannot believe this is so hard...I am thinking of replacing my stock connector with an Eclipse (square) type.

Does anyone have the OEM partnumber (Or Duralast OR Wells or ANYONE) for a 95 TALON CTS? or know where to get one that works? If you bought one locally and know it reads properly,( 2200-2500 ohms at 70F, about 300 ohms at line 180F...oval connector) please let me know...I cant be the only one with this problem!!

wow do you have pictures.

Got mine at advanced auto , ac switch oval the ecu one had the t the one with the spades. It was easy two parts to get.

This is the two-pin coolant temp sensor for the ECU...here are some pics of the two 'types'...One has an 'Oval' shape and the connector goes 'inside'. The other has a 'square' end and the connector goes 'over' the end of the sensor.
If it wasn't for Link, I would have been going crazy trying to find out why my idle, AFR and Fans are all screwed up! The 'wrong' oval one measures about 10K ohms, not the 2.5K per the manual. The square one DOES measure right. Again, I cannot be the only one with this problem. Anyone with a 95 Talon with the original CTS plug...and can get the RIGHT sensor?

My eclipse (95) and all other 4g63T 2g DSMs I have ever worked on have the oval connector like the last 2 pics on this thread. I am thinking maybe you have a bad ecu if you have tried so many, even oem parts and not gotten the right one yet.

Check the ecu out. Make sure that looks good.

Im gonna go with possibly a bad connection on this one. I don't see why it would give you reading like that.

The part number I'm finding for your car is: M33004281

There may be something wrong in the harness, those wires get brittle and hard.

I agree with everyone who replied...makes sense! This is why I measured the Sensor. I went to the Wells website and the specs for the SU326 (which crosses to the #33004281) say it should read about 10K ohms. (which it does). Why is that? The Mitsu Service manual says 2200-2500 ohms. Maybe I am just overlooking something...so please look over the attachments...what do you think? (If anyone has an oval one they can measure, that would be great)

I found the Non-Turbo CTS Specs...

SERVICE SPECIFICATIONS (NON-Turbo)

Engine coolant temperature sensor
25°C (70F) 9-11K Ohms
100°C (212°F) 0.6 -0.8K Ohms


The specs match up perfect with the SU326. So, what is the 'oval' CTS for the Turbo version?

Does anyone use this (SU326) sensor on their Turbo Talon and have issues with cold starting, idle, overheating, etc? If so, this may be why...

My plug broke and those pigtails are hard to find so I wired up a 1G pigtail and swapped in a 1G temp sensor, it works perfect!
