My son jsut got his first project car... 2g - non-turbo 98 Eclipse GS
This hose is leaking, but can't figure out what its called.

Thanks!!

I want to say it's the Heater Hose (Heater to Pipe 2), but I am not 100% sure, also, do we have a heater control valve? And could this be causing my temperature gauge not to work?

Those metal lines are an inseparable assembly. You can’t buy one... you buy both. Should be able to buy a used one off eBay.

As the gauge cluster temp not working. The coolant temp sender need to be replaced. It’s the one wire sensor on the thermostat housing. The 2 wire sensor goes to the ecu.

This guy wants gold for it but this is what you need.

This is the sender you need for the cluster. Autozone, etc should also have it.

:hmm: I believe that is of the "skanky hose" variety.

I have a few of those living in my garage if you need one.
Do you know if the leak is coming from the metal tubing or is it coming from the rubber hose that connects it to the thermostat housing?

Question, the temp gauge is now working, but ONLY if I have the AC turned on. If the AC is off the needle doesn't move. But when I turn it on, it will slowly move correctly as the car warms up. That's not normal, so I am wondering if it might be a wiring issue?

It may just be the little hose, we are flushing the system today and replacing the water, that is in there (we bought it that way) with actual coolant.

Also, a bit off the topic of this post, but I saw a post that gave photo of the engine bay and named all the parts. Now I can't find it. Can anyone help me out with that. There are just some things we aren't sure what they are or where to find and it would be nice to have a quick overview of the engine bay.
