Alright, I'm planning on converting my 97' Talon 420a engine to a turbo with the HRN Kit. I've been looking into getting a new air intake for the engine in the mean time and would like to get one that will still work with the turbo installed. I'd prefer a CAI but from what I see the fan and piping to the IC get in the way of the piping for the CAI. I had thought about cutting the hood and placing it in that space for direct cold air but because of the turbos forced air I can't use the Air Bypass Valve without damaging the valve which would (if I've got this right) make it impossible for me to drive the car in the rain without it Hydro Locking.

My question is pretty simple. Is there a CAI system that would work with the 420a HRN turbo kit or another air intake that would work or if by changing the piping to the IC (or just getting a newer IC) would the CAI fit?

Yeah, question sounds stupid to me but I figured it would be better to ask here than find out later and have a "DOH!!!"momment as I sat there scratching my head.

The AEM V2 is an over-engineered length of pipe, with a filter on one end of it. The real performance gain from any CAI/SRI is due to the high-flow conical air filter. Gains from the tube are negligible.

You will find that most of the 2gnt'rs on this site, as well as 2gnt.com, use a cheap eBay intake, coupled with a K&N, Dryflow, or foam element filter. Some guys even bend up some exhaust pipe, mated with a good air filter, with similar results.

I don't know anything about their "dual chamber" voodoo, (the link on their own site gives me a 404) but it would likely be a restriction in the charge path.

Just like Locke said, by an e-bay intake and replace the filter with a quality one. If your going with the HRC kit, you'll get new pipes anyway, so don't spend your money on a name brand intake. Before I got my intake (before turbo) I just used the stock intake pipe with a K&N filter...

You'll quickly realize that DSM'ers are an empty-wallet bunch. We tend to use the cheapest parts we can find (or make) that offer comparable functionality and quality to the high dollar versions of those parts.

Have fun.
