Edm,
Well it's been three years and my car is almost the way I want it.

This is what I’ve done in the last 2 months
- Engine overhaul
reman head, stiffer springs, re angled valves, new valves, polished ports, new 98 gsx cam shafts, oem head gasket, hot tanked intake and exh mani, head shaved .020", new piston rings, egr eliminator sensor.

I also lightened the flywheel by about 4-5 pounds

This weekend I'm installing my Big Brakes

old mods:

Intake, exhaust, 93 turbo cams, UDP, wires, iridium plugs, ACT 2100,
H&R springs, kyb shocks, strut bar, powder coated tsi wheels.

Amazing setup!!! Nice to see someone like myself modding thier N/T!

Got any info on your brake setup? Source, Price? What did you do to paint those calipers? The black and red looks very classy.

How did you lighten the flywheel???

Do 2G Camshafts fit in a stock head? Any gains over a 1G Turbo Camshaft?

-The semi loaded reman calipers were $80 each(including mounting hard wear).
-vht caliper paint $7
-Hawk pads $85
-powerslot rotors $85each
-outer hose $10 each
check out vfaq.com for more info

There is a ridge around the back of the flywheel, most machine shops will remove it.

I had 93 turbo cams in my car before that had over 150,000km on them and they made a lot of noise aswell. One of my friends owns a engine shop and gave me brand new 98 gsx cams.

My engine is running soooo smooth, I have more power at every rpm.

So you can actually tell a difference between the 1g turbo cams compared to the 2g turbo cams? This is very interesting...and quite disturbing if this is true considering how much it costs to switch them over. :barf: Do you have any track results to compare the results or a dyno chart? I just can't believe that the 2g turbo cams are more aggresive than the 1g. You'd think that they would be the same considering that they are both for the 4g63t motor. Any chance that the 93 cams that you put in originally were damaged in some way to cause them to be so noisey. I just ask because I have 1g turbo cams in mine as well, and haven't noticed any problems whatsoever.

You will benefit from any 92+ 5sp turbo camshafts. I couldn't tell you if they give more power than my 93s because so much was done to the engine at the same time. Both sets of camshafts gave me power over 6000rpm.

Why 92+....is there a difference from the 90 or 91 5 spd turbo cams. I just figured they were all the same. I am pretty sure that I used 91 cams in my current set-up. I will be pissed if I messed that up!

Some people say they are more aggressive in 93, but I have talked to over 10 different DSM authorities here in town (own 10-11 sec cars, and a DSM only car shop) and they all say the cams are all the same. Who knows?

Get ahold of a set of 90-92 turbo 5 speed cams and a set of 93 or newer turbo 5 speed cams, and mic them, you will see that the 93 or newer are much more aggresive. Better lift and better duration which makes for a more aggresive cam profile. They are not the same.
