i just wanted post to show what my transfer case looks like after almost having an accident when all my wheels locked up in an intersection. to avoid getting hit i revved it to 6500 and popped the clutch to get out of the way of on coming traffic. i made it to work and it happend again pulling into work. i don't know if you can make heads or tails of the pictures it just shows the transfer case, the crack, the rest of the fluid that is mixed with a grey tint (maybe gear dust) and inside were its just laying there on the case instead of holding in the center position and also it is pretty empty inside aswell. i am going to mitsu to see if they are going to recall this or not. doesn't hurt to try.

Mine locked up on me on the highway. My car was messed up and would drag. I let it sit for a week drained the T-case fluid and put new lube in there with a new drain plug and now it runs fine. Its been ok for a year now. Strange. Anyway, it is part of the recall and mitsu by law has to do it.

I honestly doubt that Mitsu will cover a transfer case with a crack such as yours. If you want to try, cover up the crack marks with gunk. If not, I've got a transfer case for sale in the classifieds, as well as many others. When mine locked up, it spewed the dreaded grey sludge as well. I found it cheaper to buy one from someone else than to tow it to the dealer to have it replaced. If the dealer can find any way of getting out of replacing the whole case, they will. Yours will probably not be covered at all as the recall says that the oil seal to the driveshaft goes bad, not a crack on the housing.

yeah, i know about the housing. i am going to check on the internals. as it looks, there are none. it seems it just disappeared. thats what i am going to show first then lead into discussion about the fluid and cracks.
