In the words of Bruce Willis on Hostage....."####ing rich people". What's up with the people wearing shorts with 2 feet of snow on the ground? Nice project by the way. Going to definately be an object of dsm lust. Good luck with the build. :dsm:

Peregrine,
It looks the goods! The RWD G63T has been done a few times to my knowledge in old Colts (Galants here), but not to the same level as you are going.

The Galant coupes are super rare here, but I was lucky enough to own one a few years ago. Good luck - I look forward to future updates.

they are pretty rare here too. think you could dig up any pics of some right hand drive galants? i know the whole old school rx-3 turbo rotary thing is popular down there but ive never really heard of anything like im doing. welcome to the board :rocks:

did a little more work on it today. in anticipation of the efi motor going in i swapped out the gas pedal out of my old talon. the old gas pedal wouldnt work with the way the motor is setup. i also swapped in the steering column. i had to do a little fabbing but nothing major. i need to find a wiring diagram for the talon light/turn signal switch so i can use it for all my stuff on the colt. ill be swapping out the steering wheel for something a little smaller :D

The old school everything is big here. Rotors are popular, but so are Nissan, Toyota, Fiat etc. There are very few combos that no-one has had a go at. Old RWD Mitsu are not as popular, but there are a few good ones floating around.
In galants specifically I know of SR20DET, 13BT, 4G54T (popular easy conversion) and a 4G63T. I don't have any pics at hand, but remember they are only the ones I know of!

Here is a later model coupe with a 2.6L 4G54. Last I heard he was well into the 9s.

This a pic of our buddy (Perigrine and I) who is also doing a 4G63 swap into a later model Colt (1977). His is using a manual trans from a Mighty Max. It all bolts into these old Colts.

Awesome - Got any more pics of your buddies car? The reason I ask is I own the following (sorry about the size):
[gotta re-size those]
Outdated pics, but it is a 75 model with 4G54, GT35 turbo, motec, supra 5 speed, 9" diff etc etc.

I now have a hankering for RWD 4G63 goodness, so the Starion seen in the background will hopefully get a twin cam injection. It was factory delivered with a SOHC G63 turbo.

I'll try and get some more pics from you. Could take a while though. The engine isnt in the car right now. Do I understand correctly that the 4g54 came out of the Starion? If not, where does the 4G54 origionate? I know the Supra 5 speed has a removable bellhousing, so what tranny bellhousing are you using thats made by Mitsubishi? I have a 72 RX3 (still using the rotary) and I know the popular swap is to use the RX7 bellhousing with the supra box via an adapter plate. Does the Starion trans have a removable bellhousing? On the Mighty Max truck the bellhousing trans is cast into the rest of the box, so we dont have the option (that I know of) to use the supra box with the 4g63.
We use the Mighty Max (mitsu truck) motor mounts from the 2.0 liter trucks to bolt the 4g63's into the Colts. Same mounts work on the 72-73 Colt like Johns, and the 77 Colt that Justin has (the brown Colt in the above pic). As far as the manual swap goes, the cable linkage for the truck is EXACTLY the same as the linkage that the 77 Colt came with. The truck trans bolts to the 4G63 engine, and you use the truck flywheel and clutch setup. From what I understand, the truck trans wont hold much more than 300 ft-lbs, but the upside is that its a complete bolt in. The 77 colts came with 4 and 5 speeds, so the truck trans is a bolt in. Even the crossmember lines up. We dont know what fails in the trans as of yet, so if its a fork problem, that can probably be addressed by removing every other tooth on the slider (effective making a home made dog gear). Cross our fingers on that one.
That colt you have looks pretty trick. I like it. I'm gonna take a guess and say it looks like a mid to low 10 second ride. Am I right? The GT35 uses a T3 flange on the hotside right? Very cool lookin ride.

you are correct josh 4g54=starion/conquest
Only anywhere else but Aus. Our starions only came with 4G63s and flatside. These are a wideblock motor meaning the trans is interchangeable with the 2.6 starion.

All of the mitsu trans are weak as IMHO. The starion is the pick of the bunch but still struggles to handle any serious power. All have the one piece non-removable bellhousing.

The supra W58 uses a custom bellhousing adapted by myself. The 4G54 & 4G52s were sold here in carby form with an Aus-only Borg Warner 5 speed. These gearboxes are terrible,
but they do have a removable bellhousing which is what I used to make my bellhousing. These bellhousings are made in both wide and narrow block configurations meaning they can be
used behind G63s as well. I'll dig out some pics of the bellhousing to better explain it in a week or so when I return home.

4G54s were never sold here in turbo form. There are however siht loads of them still around
because they were produced in 1980 in carby form and evolved through to 1992(ish) in MPI form.

DOHC G63s however still command a high price at wrecking yards (in N/A or turbo form).
I am expecting to pay $500-$1000 for a complete head if I can find one. This will 'bolt on' to my Starion block.

you should seriously inquire as how much shipping would be from the states. ive seen good used head here with cams go for less than $200. they dont weigh a ton so it would have to be less to ship it than what your paying. on another note please post some pics of your bellhousing. i was wondeting if it looked anything like this.
