Give us the rundown on the cost of the Buschur components.

I know eveyone balks at them, but those small diameter torque convertors are expensive no matter what application you buy them for. And it's needed to adapt to bolt to the DSM flywheel.

this sounds like a good origionl drift car, thats just my opinion, good deal thought, love to see something origional, and thats origional,

a freind of mine had an 82 mazda 626 (rwd) swapped over to a 13b rotoray turbo, interestingly fun little car, with a compleatly un modded block.

lets see, originally buschur was selling his stuff for this;
convertor- $1350 WTF
flexplate- $350
aluminum adaptor- $500

he dropped his prices recently to this

convertor- $950
flexplate- $275
aluminum adaptor- $350

i bought the convertor from bruce kwartler who owns buschurs first rwd talon. i got it from him for $750. i went to the local junkyard and got my tranny for $200 out the door in great condition. if you guys have ever spent any money on fixing dsm trannys then youll appreciate only having to spend this ^^ amount of money once. all together i will have spent roughly $2300 for the tranny stuff once i buy my shift kit and manual valve body. not bad considering it will be the last tranny ill ever have to buy for the car.

the reason i got this car is because my buddy has a 73 mazda rx3 that he put a bridge ported 12a in with a 100 shot. its still getting the bugs worked out (he's a dsm guy learning about rotarys and the learning curve is new) but i guess it moves on the unit and he had an 11.7 awd. he plans to eventually go turbo on it which i think is cool becuase his 1800 lb. car with a 60-1 making 500 horses = scary fast which is exactly what im shooting for in the colt.

alright heres some pics of my thermostat housing. my buddy cut it and welded on a -16 fitting. im in love with it. i cant stop looking at it ROFL

also some pics of the buschur tranny adaptor, flexplate and my gigantic fuel pump. ive always been curious what they look like so here they are. i put a cd on the adaptor for size reference. i thought it would be MUCH bigger but im quite happy as its super light and will give me plenty of room for 3.5" exhaust. enjoy.

This project rocks!
Question about the tranny...
I'm not clear which parts you're using since the host motor is longitudinal and the donor was mounted transverse. (correct? or is it from some longitudinal 4G63 I don't know about?)

Are you using the colt housing and newer DSM tranny gears?
If you can speak to this a bit I'm all ears.

Again great project and props for living the dream!

mitsubishi started making the 4g** motor castings back in the late 60s. they were ALL mounted longitudinally then. they just made some changes in the early 80s and started mounting them horizontally for the fwd cars. there is some serious history with these motors that ive just started delving into. check this out

im using a chevy th-350 tranny. its a 3 speed auto. as for gearing im using a ford 9" rear with 3.50 gears. just for reference the stock dsm awd 5 speeds have 4.92 gears.

got my fuel system mostly together. im missing a feww fittings and my injectors. this system should be good for well over 600 horses. im most likely going with 1000cc injectors.

This car is going to be awesome, please keep up to date with your progress!

picked up my radiator today. its tiny coming in at 13"x22"x2". cost a small fortune too. its the only one i fouond with the perfect dimensions though. im having a friend weld on -16 fittings on the inlet and outlet and also my water pump. that way i can run braided line for my whole cooling system. i was supposed to get the cr back this weekend from redding but it keeps getting delayed for whatever reason. im gonna get the motor back by the end of this month and will post pics. enjoy.
