:talon: I bought a 94 TSi AWD around six months ago. Took me a month to pay it off and it had a few small problems... well I thought were small. I finally paid it off and started driving it. After driving it for about fifteen mins I decided to take it on the interstate. Three miles later it over heated and quit on me. I towed it back home, changed the thermostat and filled it full of anitfreeze. Fired it up and it had an awful knock. So after searching the internet I found a used motor for cheap and bought it. After months of working on it I finally got the motor out a week ago. Now I have everything swapped over to the new motor and its ready to be put back in. Heres some pictures of my car and the work ive done so far. I asked some questions on here and everyone was very helpful. Thank you to all. Hopefully I will have the motor in and everything hooked up by next weekend and have another DSM back running. :talon:

alright cool. i believe my torque converter should work but im not positive. and as for that bushing... i dont know exactly what yall are talkin about

Its a drive plat or flexplate never heard of it being called a spacer plate. But anyway... thats besides the point. But your right, I can't find one on any parts store. You may have to go to the dealer for it. otherwise check the classifieds, or junkyards.

i searched the classifieds on here, but didnt find any real luck. Someone about 100 miles from me says he has one, but he wants like 50 bucks for it. I would have 40 in gas plus 50 for the plate. Seems a little too much for it.

Well... I hate to beak it to you, but your car is almost 15 years old. If your not willing to spend $90 on a flexplate, you probaby bought the wrong car. Because I can tell you, there are going to be many repairs down the road on a car of this age, especially an turbo AWD DSM.
I know first hand :D

I bought mine with 57K... has about 72k on it now... Since I bought it... I have put in over 10 grand into it. my $7,500 car is now a $19,000 car, and it still is sitting on jack stands! And I've got a whopping 14,000 miles on it since i bought it

my other vehicle is 31 years old and its not this big of a pain in the ass LOL... but i mean that just sounded kinda high for just a plate. I will probably end up buying it if i cant find anything cheaper. How hard is it to swap this over. That one guy said it is hard to do. Also where does the bushing go?

with the engine out of the car it cant be that hard.
as for the bushing, i don't know. I've only worked on one automatic before so, im not 100%
Pick up a haynes or a chiltons manual. It should have a diagram in it.

yeah i got one of the haynes manuals, but its not with me right now. Hopefully I can buy that flex plate and put it all together and have this car running. Its depressing just sittin there LOL.

Going to get that flex plate sometime this week for thirty bucks. So that should put me back in business... atleast till the next problem comes up LOL

I been outta state the past week so I finally got back home and bought the flex plate and Ill be damned if I didnt hit another road block. The flex plate for the six bolt only has three holes to bolt to the torque converter and the one off my old seven bolt has four bolts.
