So my motor is still at the machine shop (going on 6 weeks so far without it). Got a call today from the guy with all of the final prices, and it should all be done this week sometime :hellyeah:

Here's everything that has been done:

Head/block deck
Hot tank block
Head rebuild
Cylinder hone
Crankshaft - welded thrust surface, ground, re-balanced, polished (like new :thumb:)
Line hone - for security and reliability, being that I'm using the MBCAD kit w/ ARP main studs

Apparently the MBCAD kit isn't as easy to install as I thought it would be. He said he's going to put more time into it to make 100% certain that everything is properly aligned and all clearances are perfect.

When everything is said and done, it'll be around $750 he said. I don't think that's a bad deal at all, considering all of the work that's going into this motor.

I'll keep this thread updated, especially when I get it back. Also take some pics of the build too...Hopefully I get her back on the road within the next week or two!

EDIT > bought the balance shaft elimination kit yesterday. The dealership actually has these in a PACKAGE now, so you don't have to purchase each individual piece. $60 and some change from the dealer.

Sounds good man. Why did you pay $60 at the dealer ? You can get them for like $40 on extremepsi.

Are you putting stock pistons/rods in it? What kind of turbo are you going to be running?

I got the BSE kit from the dealer because I'm picky about what I put on my motor. Didn't want to chance using a kit from somewhere else, even though they're probably all exactly the same (peace of mind I guess you could say).

The $750 doesn't include assembling it, I'll be doing that part :)

Just using stock pistons/rods, I don't really want anything more than 320hp or so for my daily driver. I have a Bastard 20G that's going on, the turbo has only about 700miles or so. In awesome shape with no shaft play what-so-ever.

I'm more concerned about reliability than having a race car. I love my car as a daily driver/cruising/looks, and it's more powerful than the average car on the road anyway (at least around here), so I'm more than happy with it.

This motor seen 172,xxx miles the first time around, I'm sure I can make it happen again. Maybe longer this second time around. This block should be bulletproof.

EDIT > I was taking the rear cover off of the oil pump to expost the gears, and of course I stripped the $@#! out of that screw. Luckily I extracted it fairly easily with no damage to the pump. Just for those that are curious, the dealership can get these EXACT screws but they're $4.72/each. What kind of sick F$#@s charge that much for such a small screw!? I mean $4 n some change isn't anything...but for a screw.......

Steve, I didn't know I gave you a friggen 20G turbo! Cant wait to help you get this thing together!

Why not spend the extra money and get the good internals, because you know down the street you going to want more power plus you only open the engine once so if i was you just replace the piston and rods with some good stuff.
