My control arms are hitting up top?

I just got this car and the control arms are hitting. It's been making a metal on metal sound over bumps and now I know why. The springs are red and say sportline on them, anyone have any info on them? I'd like to just replace the shocks but if I can't figure out what they are, the springs have to go also.

Wish I'd seen this post before the other one. Are the bumpstops still on the shock-shafts? Is there some radical camber-correction kit that is moving the upper A-arms outwards so the arm doesn't fit up into the well? Are you open to the idea of fixing the problem instead of making other changes in an attempt to compensate? Then we can move forward.

It's hitting the top of the fender well; yes there's a camber kit on it. It also looks like they cut a 2" X 3" peice out of the top of the fender well so they could adjust it. They did a nice job welding it back on though. And at that very spot is where it's hitting. I want to fix it right. "Do it right or do it twice" :talon: :thumb:

I hope to heck they did a good job welding, since that is the piece of the unibody which carries the weight of the front of the car.

The best fix is this: use a spring with less drop (e.g., Prokit), so you can use a smaller-offset camber kit.

Barring that, you can try a lower-offset camber kit to get the upper A-arm to go up into the pocket deeper, and deal with the extra front wheel-spin on launch.

Barring that, you can have custom offset lower inboard bushings made, to reduce camber from bottom end.

I went to a couple parts stores and the only springs they can get for my car are lowering springs. And they're 1.6" drop. Since I already have 1.7" drop I'd like to save that money if I can and just get better shocks for the front. But I'm not sure that will solve my problem. Where would you call about custom camber kits?
thx, charlie
