My 98 GST Ticks?????

upon start up of a morning or afternoon after sitting for a couple of hours, when i start it it makes a ticking sound...I cant tell what it is..anyone have any ideas? It almost sounds like the injectors pulsating but can they really be that loud?

Lifters are more then likely ticking.

He is exactly correct, mine does the same exact thing but it goes away. i believe there is an upgraded lifer kit you can but one place is dsmparts.com i dont know whare else to get them though. it happens to about every 4g63.

yup - lifters are most likley the reason. its no big deal - just noisy.

time to change your oil with mobil 1 and some lucas oil stabilizer. That cures my tick for about 4000 miles, then just change your oil again when they start ticking

Lifter tick.... Use Mobile 1 full synthetic and a Mitsubishi oil filter. I did that and my lifter tick went away.

In some cases, changing the oil to full synthetic fixes the problems. Worse case scenario, you have a couple lifters that may be stuck.

yea its lifter tick...eclipse's are known to do that..i just bought myself a set on ebay and you can tell the difference in the oil hole size by alot..if i were you id spend the $120

My Car Ticks Usually When Its Just Warming Up... Its No Big Deal... It Goes Away In 10 - 15 Minutes Or When You Strar To Drive... Ive Had Three Talons And Everyone Of Them Ticked And I Never Had Any Problems Use Mobil 1 Its The Only Way To Go!!!!

Or you can just add a can of "Restorer" to your oil (Walmart has it). Works wonders - even Defiant approved!

You can also get 3g revised lifters for like 50 bucks most places online and that will make your lifter tick go away as well.

can you drive the car normally on the highway with the lifter ticks? I don't have time or money to upgrade yet. I just went with the restorer.
