Anyone have experience with molded kits and subwoofers? Think it will crack the molds? I'm going to run two Rockford HE2 10 inch subs.

hey, I have a friend who has a totally molded kit on his supra and he has two eclipse titaniums...Haven't seen any signs of cracking....atleast from the subs and it has been like that for 3+ years.

hmm, everything on mine is molded except the front, and im hoping this won't happen, im more worried about the shitty roads around here flexing the spyder...

good reason to go with an SQ style system. or perhaps alot of dynomat in the trunk would help you out.

1st- I want to say your car looks trick as all hell.... Thumbs up on the slickness of the drift kit

2nd- You have to reach some pretty serious db's to mess with the Fiberglass or whatever it is you used to mold the kit. Definately Dynamat your entire car when you go to do the system if you're serious about good sound though.

Thanks for the replies and comments guys, I was planning on Dynamatting the truck at least. I figured that it would help out with the vibrations some too.

my sides and rear have been molded for two years, with sounds in the car. As long as u do a good job on the molding, it should hold up fine.

is that a poly rear bumper, or a full fiberglass? or a fiberglass bumper cover?

if it's a bumper cover, how did you mold the glass cover to the stock poly bumper, and the same goes for the stock poly bumper to the metal body?? lots of braces?? that is this winters project i think (or at least the sides i hope)

that is the only area i'm worried about.

Nice to see your car is still looking just as amazing as it was 2 years ago. I still have that acrylic painting I did of your car too

na dont see it being a problem.. iv had mine molded for awhile.. all well and i even backed the side skirt into a curb ;]

Most molded cars I have seen that are driven any at all end up cracking on their own. I have seen unmolded rear bumpers crack from having a lot of bass. I would be careful. Just maybe try to aim the subs away from any molds/ kit components. Maybe up and/or towards the back instead of straight back or to the sides.

if done properly, you shouldn't have to worry. lots of reinforcement BEFORE the molding begins, and your set. think of fiberglassed sub enclosures... they really take a beating.

now i realize molding fiberglass to metal is different becuase they both flex differently, but like mentioned... lots of bracing before filler and i don't think ther'd be much of an issue. driving will do far more damage than just about any stereo you can fit into a DSM

rocks and stuff aren't gonna be hitting your enclosure. You also don't have the flex on a sub box that you do on body panels. I have seen bumpers crack due to bass, and seen a lot of heavily supported kits break back away. I chose not to mold mine b/c I will be driving the car, and for the fact that people in NC can't drive for shit. I think your car will be fine tho as long as you don't aim the subs toward the bumper.
