OK i just bought a new short shifter from bodykits.com and when it came in, i found out that its the exact same thing i have in my car already, so i was wondering if i modified it to were it shows the the pic, i mean cut the Xd part out and weld it back together, if it would work correctly, and if so what kind of advice would you guys give me for making it fit properly, thanks for the input.

so do you think it would be better to not cut out so much, and even if it ends up being to low, i have the exact same thing already in my car, so the only thing would suck is that i paid for it and then couldn't use it

not sure what kinda driving you do or how good of driver you are. but remember, when you shortin the shifter way down into the boot it takes your arm longer time to go from steering wheel to to shifter. and from my own personal experience those after market short throw shifters make shifting much more INCONSISTANT. these trannys dont like to shift well under high R's any how. put a inconsistent shifter in there and your askin for trouble. best thing you could do is get a set of really nice shifter bushings where the cables attach to the tranny. make sure your cables are in good condition, and periodically check that the two bolts that hold the cables to the tranny are tight. (the two bolts that are 12mm socket to tighten) those bolts are notorious for comin loose. biggest consern though is the time to go from steering wheel to shifter. most people rally their cars hard with both hands on the steering wheel and the kinda tall stock shifter is already a ways away from the wheel. i think if you wanna have that more of a clean look in your car with a shorter shifter your best bet would be to cut a inch inch in a half outa the stock one. of course this is just my opinion. hope it helps you.

ok kool thanks for the advice on the bushings, ive never thought about those, ill have to check those 2mrw, and my car already had the short shifter in when i bought my car, and i honestly dont drive my car very hard, because i just put a brand new engine in my car and honestly spend way to much money on it for just tear it up, and over the years tore up alot of vehicles, there for im just looking for something thats alittle quicker when i need it but not all of the time, but thanks for all the help guys.

well that cant be a short shifter (i see what you met) but take about 3/4 of an inch off put it in the car before welding it and see how it feels (taste varies from person to person) and once you have it where you want it then welded... but i would just spend the 15 bucks on a ebay B&M replica and do the work on it instead the pivot point is higher on the shifter there fore speeding up the through like short shifter is suppose to...good luck:thumb:

I cut my B&M replica down a little, just like you want to. It works fine. When you shorten the shifter you are losing leverage, so it will actually be harder to shift, but it's not bad.

i ended up cutting it down about 1 1/2 and it honestly feels great, it is a little harder to shift, but it feels for intact if you know what i mean, thanks guys
