hey guys lay some knowledge on me!
(history)
i bought a 91 gsx with bent exhaust valves... timing belt slip.
Bought a new motor with some block issues. The plan is to swap heads and refurbish long block seals, rings, bearings,studs,mls gasket..the works

#1(pic) the dish in the valves of the original broken head differ from one another.
i would assume that they were replacement valves from past head work. my new donor head also has miss match valve face dishes and 6T stamped on some of them. any ideas? could it be making up for combustion chamber volume differences?

#2 since i'm balls deep in this motor i want to upgrade as much as i can as cheap as i can.
i have a full extra set of intake valves and the thought crossed my mind of hogging out my exhaust valves and replacing them with stock intake valves. i haven't pulled my good head apart so i don't know if the intake and exhaust valves are the same length. i tried to see if it was done before couldn't find any useful info.
let me know!

You won't be able to go that oversized on the exhaust valves to where you could use intake valves. It probably wouldnt be good to do even if it was possible...

Oh, and the pic isn't showing

Intake valves and exhaust valves shouldnt be swapped for eachother. The exhaust valves are made of tougher material to take the heat from the exhaust gasses flowing over them. You would probably break one of the intake valves doing so and thus be out another engine.

sorry for the pics not working.... i forgot to upload them
sounds like a unanimous no go on the valves. i had my doubts, i did notice the exhaust valves were much beefier around the stem. wishful thinking i guess, would have kicked ass if it could be done!
thanx guys

I doubt it would've kicked ass. If it would, you wouldn't see smaller exhaust valves than intake valves on every application (including extreme performance applications). There is a balance for best performance.

Valve installed heights also differ between different year heads so swapping valves between heads is not a good idea either unless you're using precision measuring instruments.
