Hey y'all. I bought a Megan short shifter for my 1996 RS. I installed it today and came across a problem. The base of the shifter is hitting the 'C' looking bracket that holds the clutch cable (the clutch cable that doesn't bolt directly on the shifter). This is causing it not to go into first. Any suggestion other than cutting off the bottom? Also this short shifter doesn't seem much "shorter" than the stock.
Thank you in advance.

clutch cable on the shifter? those are shifter cables i think your talking about, anyway are you sure you didnt install the whole shifter backwards? there is two ways it can go on and only one right way and if its not shorter of a throw then something isnt right. when i went from stock to short throw shifter there was a big difference to me. but yeah its shouldnt hit the bottom of the shifter bracket.

Well according to the image on this thread I installed it right.. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/dri...ouble-installing-b-m-short-shifter-clone.html

And I'm sorry, I did mean shifter cables.

Thanks for the quick response.

well unless you can put up pics its hard to see what would be in the way. i remember when i did mine i had a few issues. i think i added some washers to push the shiter out and away from where it was hitting. my double threaded bolt broke so i put a longer one in on the top where it goes through the top of the bracket so when you go into first it doesnt hit the bottom. also try putting your shifter cable on the other side of the bottom on the left side.

When I am able today I will post a picture up.
Please stay in touch, I really appreciate the help.

A picture is attached. I think.
