Mechanical Boost Guage?

I picked up a mechanical boost gauge off my buddy and it doesn't get connected to any vacuum lines, it comes with a pressure fitting type connection. I looked on the forums and seen that i need to drill and tap a hole into my intake manifold...i was just wondering if anyone had any advice on the proper way to do this?

You mean a compression fitting? If so, then it's the same as any other and should have come with nylon line and a plastic T to tap into the vac line with. I've always tapped into the FPR line as it's short and gets reference off the IM.

Do you know what gauge you have?

What he ^ said. Just google how to install boost gauge dsmtuners and install the t fitting into the fpr line. I can't pull up the link at work but someone will chime if you can't find it.

The only difference between installing a mechanical and electrical boost gauge is that with a mechanical one you have to run the line from the boost source all the way in the car to the gauge with an electrical one you can install the sensor closer to your boost source. You can use the same boost source for either type (like the FPR) there are plenty of sources you don't need to drill anything.

It was new in the box , it's a sunpro I think , and I understand the t fitting on the fpr line but this gauge does not use that , it just has the compression fitting to run it straight to the intake manifold

Yes that's exactly it , I'm not sure if there's any existing holes or I I need to drill my own , and the proper way to do it .

There will be a compression fitting or a barb on the back of the gauge. You will run a rubber hose if it is barbed, and a nylon hose if it is a compression fitting. This is on the gauge side. On the other side either hook the vacuum hose up to the a port on the throttle body or t it into the fpr as others have said. I am not sure how you are coming to the conclusion that you have to run a compression fitting off the intake manifold. IT is either a plastic hose that will fit into a vacuum hose, or a vacuum hose that fits over a nipple.

Well I'm just reading what the instructions are telling me , that's why I am lost

i need to find a removable plug on the stock 2g intake manifold to insert a 1/8" NPT threaded fitting, i hope this will make things easier
