whats the max boost you guys would run on the 1g rods i know its an iffy subject with detination and all but my set up i have 8.8:1 BRC lightweight piston, bushed 1g rods, o.ringed block and head, arp headstuds

What turbo are you running, GT-11? I think the real question is how much power you can make on them. I was running 25 psi with a 14b on a stock engine. Like the previous post though, you have to have a good tune. When you start detanating you start blowing shit up. I would say 400whp would be a good reliable number for a stock rod. There have been some hit larger numbers on a bone stock engine however.

yes running the GT11 were you saying that like it was a bad thing or are you saying its capable of putting out more power the the rods can handle i work for Keystone Automotive Inc and we carry eagle h beam rods for the 4g63 and i can get a hellashish (if thats a word) good deal get them at about 5- 15% over what we pay eagle for them

Im shooting for 450awhp on 93 octane and water injection in the spring, on a stock 1g 4g63.

Just havent read that much on the GT-11 yet. Eagle rods may not be a bad investment if you are looking to put down some serious numbers. You have a pretty nice set up already though. I would just give her a good tune and see what happens.

Slowgsr: Thats quite a lofty goal. Its nice to make a bunch of power on pump gas, but some times it just isn't worth it. Its deffinaly possible though, good luck.

yeah im gonna get it tuned and run hopefully about 20-24 on the streets with the BB GT 11 should be able to do that but i want to have the ability to crank the boost up and go to the track and throw in some race gas and give her hell

Which block do you have? Mitsu changed from the stronger 6-bolt to the7-bolt mid 1992.

The 6-bolt can go to around 500whp before issues. You can run over 30 psi on your current setup and never see that much power. You're still running stock cams!

A 7-bolt can handle over 400whp. This is possible with your current setup.

As already mentioned, a good no-knock tune will ultimately detemine how far you can push her.

ive got a 6 bolt so thats one less stressor for me to worry about and im kinda torn between an all out badass street car with some larger cams or go with something a lot more streetable and just 1 steep up off of stock the car is going to be rarely driven long ways my work is about 1/2 mile away ive been walking to and from since the cars down but i do want to run at least mid 11's this spring so im thinking the bigger cams will more suit what im looking for and im also looking at a SMIM

ive been contiplating this build just like you for a while and the guys on here that done all this and tried to just make cheap boost say just do it once if your going to have the engine out replace the rods especially if you can get them cheap....

The gt11 has the gt35 or gt37 compressor (not gt35R or gt37R). See below from Garrett's website.

It chokes at 49 lbs/min assuming your tubine is up to the task.

This turbo is a glorified 50-trim. You should be able to run your stock block fine and push this turbo if your block is in good shape. I suggest swapping in arp rod bolts. That's what goes first with these 6-bolts. Then you should have enough bottem end to take whatever this turbo can throw at it.
