hey guys, can i make a shortshifter for my car? i looked online, and got the general idea. i have access to a full metals shop, and plenty of time. i think it would be cool to make, but is it worth it? also, if im gonna do it have to have exact mesurements. if i cant do that what else could i make that would be cool for my car?

has anyone tried to make a short shift kit? im talking about the peice that the shiftknob screws onto, and connects with the linkage? i think it would be a good alternative to speding over 150 on a decent one. i have access to a full metals/machine shop. if anyone could give me exact specs on a B&M or similar i could definatly give it a shot

I shortened mine and it was easy if you have a hacksaw and a welder. Remove your shifter, cut the shaft off where it is welded to the bracket, hack about an inch off of it and weld it back on. Put some kind of short shift knob on it and you'll reduce the throw by about half. I've been using mine for 5 years already http://hometown.aol.com/rcm1061/myhomepage/personal.html
