ok, so I have a music device and want to stream the music into my stock infinity cd-player, the fm transmitters suck and the quality is lost...

what I have in mind is to add a line in plug that uses the stander jack for head phones and all that, so i just want to plug my mp3 player to the car's stereo

Before i start doing all of this, I wanted to check to see if any one has done it before?

thanx

Lots of luck. I install stereo equipment and we've used dozens of different brands of FM transmitters and they have all been great. Belkin makes the (digital) TuneCast II which is great and has done well for many who use it. I myself have used the Belkin "ipod" transmitter and it sounds good and has good sound quality with very little loss.

The problem I've seen with the tape adapters is a LOT of cassette players in cars want to try to switch from side A to side B at certin points of the song, or blank spots, or even have crappy scratching in the playback. Sure I've seen them work for some people but just not my cup of tea.

Unfortunately you really have no choice except the FM transmitters. You can always try to find the pin-outs for the stock CD changer input and make a custom connection to allow other devices. But this just takes time and simply ain't worth it.

If quality is what you want, then the clear choice is to get a new deck. There are decks out there selling for <$50 with aux input for mp3 players and other devices.

Another option you have is to get the 95 GST/GSX premium stock deck. Oh yes why the 95s > the other years besides the look that is easily attainable, it has eeprom, stock rear vented, and the nice stock stereo with multi-band EQ and aux input in the front! who needs the stock cd player of the future years when today a CD player that doesn't play mp3s is useless. Of course this would be a cheap choice if you can find someone to give it to you for free or sell it for cheap. It's a direct swap and all the plugs, harness will still work allowing you to use the stock amp still.

Oh yes as mentioned the tape adapter is available as well. Maybe better than the FM transmitters. I would really just upgrade the stereo.

I have a 95 with the aux output in front. Havent tried it out. I just stick with this tape adapter. Works real good. Sometimes it will get kinda scratchy and I just have to play with the plug where it plugs into my phon/mp3 player or whatever you use it on.

Trade ya for your stock cd player.LOL

that would be an input. and if you have it why not use it? I believe it is a much better method. No need to worry about the tape having to auto switch when at the end and rewind. Also it is a more direct feed instead of the source having to be transferred to tape then to the deck.

You really rather have the stock 96-99 decks? Maybe back in the day yes it would be a much better. On top of the aux input you also have the more adjustments with the EQ.

But yes just get a new deck. Best buy had a clearance not too long ago for a cd deck that plays cds with mp3s and wma. it also has usb input in the front, an aux input in the front for ipods and other mp3 players, also plays HD RADIO because it has a built in tuner. For $29!!!!! I don't know why one would want to stay stock if they even pay little attention to the audio.

Same answer I usually give. Eighty bucks at Wal*Mart. Screw that plug in shit, or use it if you like:
Walmart.com: Virtual Reality Sound VR3 CD Player w/ USB and Scan Disk Inputs: Auto
SD, USB, MP3 CDs, AUX on the removable face.

I would recommend that you not use the VR Products.
There are plenty of other head units that offer SD/USB/MP3/WMA/DVD/AUX Playback. Those cheap head units that VR makes have had numerous issues with their screens going dark, buttons quit functioning, quits reading cards, if you look at the price, it does reflect how good of a unit it is... Just my $0.02

I have a Pioneer AVIC-N4 (modified) and it's great.
It plays CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, DVDs, DVD-R/RWs, DivX, AAC, WMA, and MP3 discs... Some features...

# GPS navigation (includes GPS antenna and map DVD-ROM)
# 12 million points of interest (hotels, restaurants, gas stations, etc.), with Brand Icons for many popular chain stores and restaurants
# telephone search, category search, and more
# voice prompts through stereo speakers with mute

With all the time and dinking around your going to do, your better off just buying a cd player. Goto your local pawn shop if your broke. I picked up a nice direct ipod plug in for $169.00 at future shop. its a pioneer and will last years. Besides the outdated stock deck wont give you top quality alone.
good luck man.

I have the 95 stock head unit with the EQ and the Aux output. I use my phone as an mp3 player with the headphone extension cable in the Aux and it works amazingly well. I honestly like my stock head unit better than the Alpine I have in my non-turbo.

so i went to walmart and bought the cassette adapter and it works great, to get rid of all the extra static noise i pressed the "dobly digital" button #6 on the stereo, works good for now

thanx
