Stock CD player won't read CDs

I am having trouble with my stock CD player in my 93 eagle talon tsi it won't read CDs not even brand new CDs does anyone l ow why this is? Or know how I can fix it without putting an after market radio in.

Maybe it's just old an worn out?? You could try getting some of that dust cleaning stuff in a can (can't remember exact name ) and see if it helps?

That's what I was thinking I was just wondering if this is a common problem with the stick CD player

A CD player that old working isn't very likely.

However electronic duster might work if it's just dusty inside. There are also special cleaning discs that might help as well.

But both of those things rarely work as most of the time the player is just worn out.

Try the cleaning stuff but old CD players (and VERY often old DVD players - like 3 yrs old) lasers get weak with age. To keep the price competitive (or lower than others) they use poor quality lasers. Sound familiar with products sold in the USA? And since the far far majority of Americans buy on price over quality, they keep making them for us here in this global economy. We are our own enemy
