Many of you know I did the Magnus Motorsports Manifold install review in the tech section earlier in the year. Well here are the results from that manifold install now that I have something verifiable. Here is the basic info on my car for those wondering.
98 Talon TSI AWD. Stock 7 Bolt engine (completely, and I mean it.. No HG no Studs etc...)
650cc, 50 Trim, FMIC, 23psi, Pump 94 Octane gas.
Before the install with the stock intake manifold and throttle body my best run after multiple times at the drag strip was 12.59 @ 109mph.
After the Magnus manifold install and 1st Gen 60mm throttle body install I went back to the track and didnt pull any faster times. Actually thats not totally true as I pulled a 12.55 @ 109mph whoptie do. So back to the drawing board I went. I pressure tested my system and found I had a HUGE boost leak between the throttle body and manifold so I corrected that and went to the track this weekend.
the car beside me is my Dad's Maxima btw...
After only simply fixing the boost leak, my 12.55 became a 12.13 with 4mph improvement in my trap speed. This is a NO B.S. improvement as nothing else on my setup was changed from the stock 2G to the Magnus manifold, and I mean no changes otherwise at all. I did pull a better 60ft time from the old slip to the new slip however I pulled 1.765s before and still only ran a 12.5 or 12.6 down the track on the stock manifold.
All I can say is that it made power and took off 4/10 ths and added 4mph to my time which is a huge improvement to a mid 12 second car. There may be some skeptics in the house about the times, however those who know me know Im a no BS guy. If Marcos manifold sucked I would say so even though Im local to Magnus, but it doesnt. It made power and a huge improvement on my car. If I proved it to myself on my own car then Im a believer.
Just thought I would share my results.
