a few weeks ago my car started sputtering out at higher rpms, and within an hour it was sputtering out throughout the rpms..my tack was also jumping up and down rapidly...i figured out the problem seemed to be coming from my 1g maf. at first i thought it was a bad maf, so i switched to another maf and the car ran fine for a few hours and started doing the same thing...i messed with the plug a little running into the maf and finally got the car running fine...the car would usually start sputtering whenever i would unplug the maf while i was working on my car after i had plugged it back in...one day it started sputtering out again, so i unplugged the maf, let it sit for 20 minutes and plugged it back in again..and the car ran fine. yesterday i installed a 2g maf and the car ran great for 5 minutes, and now its doing the same thing again, but i cant fix the problem...does anyone know what exactly is going on? the cars seems to run worse the longer it runs...the check engine light eventually comes on..and usually it idles and runs fine when i first start the car after it has been sitting a while.

have you done a boost leak test, maybe you have one near something hot that gets larger as it gets warmer, although that doesnt explain the tach going crazy...bad cas?

i dont think thats the problem because the car was running fine on the 1g maf right before i switched to the 2g maf. thanks though.
