I've got a GM MAF. I have seen a blank housing that is the same size and shape as the stock 2G MAF so that my intake and filter will still fit. Does anyone know where to find one?

OP, I dont know where to get a "blank" but I would suggest just getting a whole new pipe from turbo to filter.

I think I know what you are talking about.

Are you refering to the Piece that will allow you to remove the sensor from your intake setup. Yet allow the filter and junk to still mount to the pipe?

This perhaps?

like stated above,
You realize you do need the whole GMMAFT setup, the sensor and the translator.

replacing the pipe completley with a single pipe and clamp on filter will greatly improve your gains.

Ditch that stock intake and filter.

Yeah, I bought an intake with the bypass tube and mounts to the MAF and then the round to square adapter for the cone filter. The motor blew and I started a 6 bolt swap. I have the MAF translator but I wanted to do more than just punch the honeycombs out of the stock MAF to get more flow. Thanks for the link on the smooth intake.

im still not sure what you talkin about.

you will be Completly removing the stock MAF. Its gone.

OR are you using your gm maf in a Draw through setup?

either way,

I am using the GM MAF as a blow through up between the BOV and TB. I wanted to completely remove the stock karmen vortex MAF but couldn't find a 'blank' and wanted more flow than to just remove the honeycombs. I will end up getting that intake without the MAF adapter and bypass tube.

On a 2G that has the TB elbow, do you think putting the MAF coupled right onto that and then the BOV before the MAF in one of those pipes is too close for the MAF to the TB? Otherwise I'm going to have to cut like a 4 inch piece of pipe and couple that to the TB elbow, then shorten the BOV pipe so it will fit before the upper IC pipe makes the turn to go under the fuse box.

you dont want the BOV before the maf.

the idea is to have the MAF read the air moving down the pipe before it blows it off.

Here is a pic of my old setup.

the Maf and bov are pretty close to the TB.

If you put the BOV after the MAF then aren't you blowing off air that has already been metered and therefore fuel is being added for? You'll be back to running rich in between shifts just like running the stock 2G mas and venting the BOV to atmosphere because the fuel will be there but none of the air will be.

Now I'm confused, maybe we have a typo situation because you said not to have the BOV before the MAF but that is how you have it set up in your pic.

side note: anyone know where to get the silicone adapters for the 3" GM MAF? I got a 3-2.5 reducer but the MAF is like 3 1/4 and i'm going crazy trying to force it on. Please save me from throwing the slicone in the microwave or breaking my MAF by trying to force them on.

slowboyracing has them.
turbotrix has them
Roadraceengineering has them
dsmparts has them

all .com s

Some of the shops will include the appropriate tbolt clamps with them.
;)

Yea, our confusion was when you said before the MAF, i thought you meant between the TB and the MAF, LOL.

yes, you want the air to pass back through the MAF before it vents.

with this kind of intake set up it doesn't look like it has a tube for the breather on the valve cover to get vacuum from. Are you just venting it to atmosphere with a filter?

yes, that is what most people do, If you look under the Engine section on most sites, youll see someting called a catch can, this will catch the oil vapors from the VC.

taboo speed shop used to have a vaccuum diagram eliminating un necessary vac hoses.

your stock intake has, 2 hoses, the VC connection, and then the Gastank vapor hose.

I've been to taboo and their site helped me eliminate all the EGR and fuel vapor stuff, including the canister. That cleaned it a lot of room. I do have an oil catch can but some people say that just that isn't enough to have it vented. It needs vacuum to help evacuate the gases and help with crankcase pressure, though that is primarily the job of the PCV so i figured that should be enough. Of course, i'll see if the stock valve will hold 20+ psi otherwise i'll have to spend $100 from Dejon, but that's another headache.
