Maf adapter size?

I am just curious if there is any real gain from running a 4.5" maf adapter and filter over somthing slightly smaller. I am looking to put a aluminum 90* bend before the maf adapter to get the filter out of the engine bay and currently have the 4.5" adapter. 90* aluminum elbows that size are spendy for what they are so if there is nothing to be gained I'm thinking 3-3.5" adapter, elbow pipe and filter.... But If there is a gain to be had Then I can justify the cost, any thoughts...thanks

Bigger is always better . I'm actually doing the same thing it isn't a whole lot but it depends which way u look at it every little bit helps and a lot of little things make big differences but the decision is ultimiltly up to you.
