LS-1 MAF translator vs ARC-2/ VPC

To put the unit inside the car, you could either:

a) Run the wires from the GM MAF into the cabin and tap the other wires near the ECU.

b) Wire the GM MAF's three pins to power, ground and airflow on the original MAF connector by chopping both connectors off the MAFT cable and splicing them together (will require you to work out what the pins on the GM MAF are) and then splice the MAFT into the ECU wiring much like an AFC.

The GM MAF connector is actually available..... You could install it on the factory wiring.

The problem with matching the factory connectors is that (as far as my research shows) there is no mating connector. The connectors were designed to mate with molded modules....

The 2G connector is a compromise as well.

Switch 3 is a frequency/flow LIMITER
On limits frequency, thus preventing fuel cut.
Off does not.

The GM MAF plug is
Pink(12v) Pin C
Black(Ground) Pin B
Yellow(signal) PIN A

ok, I just got my unit and Ive got a couple of quetsions about blow through before I hack up my uicp. How does the GM MAS know when not to add fuel when the throttle body is shut and the air is being released to the bov. Would that air just get measured or does it not measure the air when going through the MAS backwards?? just curious.

It will measure some of the backwards air. But the majority of the air released by the BOV comes from the turbo, all the IC piping, and the IC (especially a large FMIC). The volume of tubing from the TB plate to the BOV is a small percentage of the total volume that will decompress. Mostof it comes from the still spinning turbo anyway. So it shouldhave a minor effect.

The MAF won't know when the throttle is closed. But the MAF is just one part of the many inputs to the computer it alone doesnt control fuel. Your computer will get a signal from the TPS telling the computer that the throttle is closed. The MAF is not the only sensor telling the computer to add or take away fuel.

i am still confused about switch 3....
ON- Allows fuel cutoff
OFF- No fuel limiter

sounds like both say they get rid of fuel cut.
OFF has no fuel cut limiter and ON prevents fuel cut? clear this up please.

Formz, don't post dis-information, read the thread, you just posted the exact opposite of the truth. Why?

Let's simplify the switch settings:

Yes, Fuel cut good, I like it and want to have it sometimes so my car can buck really bad, it's fun, yay fuelcut: switch OFF.

NO, Fuel cut bad, I don't like it, and don't EVER want it, I want my car to have NO ability to fuelcut, fuelcut sucks: switch ON.
;)

No, I deleted it to re-read the thread. You're still wrong. Thanks for coming out though. ;) I deleted the part about you being an idiot, since it was a simple mistake (you didn't read the previous posts), if you'd like me to call you an idiot, I will, LOL! :D

I didn't want to come off like an @$$hole, since on-line posts can come off a lot more sarcastic than intended. No malice was intended, just wanted to make a point.

ooh ooh, so this purple wire can supply extra fuel when triggered?
ok, so how would i trigger it? ground it?
would ROCK to have it connected to my DSMBC switch!

Either way, the guy just though that putting the switch on or off killed fuel cut, I knew it was one way. Doesn't make that much difference, if he hits fuel cut, just switch the switch heh

hmm, the plug for my 2g dont wuite fit...do i jsut chop some plastic off till it goes in there?

It fits, DON"T CUT. I know it looks like it does not but it does. the little lock lugs go inside the connector. Use the wire tie too.

my mounting place. like?

hmm.. well soon as i get my clutch in, 2G manifold on thats my next mod.. then 3" exhaust...

BTW which should i order for the a 1G talon.. 3" or 3.5"... and do i need a pocket logger or Apex AFC or something of that nature for this?

Its "mis-information" :p

Accordng to Mike or Bob you need some other way to add fuel if you are going to use this. Meaning its basically useless on DSMs since we dont run extra injector controllers, etc. If you put a clamp on the airflow signal, you run lean, if you are actually flowing more than the limit its set to.

Yeah, me and a buddy of mine developed and built a nice automatic h2o/alky injections system for a DSM. There's a sizeable yahoo group list dedicated to DSM h20/alky injection.
