I just recently read somewhere that Spyder Eclipses cant use regular RS and GS and GST lowering springs because they use the GSX frame which weighs more and also has more supports making the car even heavier..... i guess my question is does anyone know if this is bullsh*t and i can use regular Hardtop Eclipse Springs or do i need certian ones?

I wanna lower my DSM about 1.5" - 2"MAX

well i am a moron and should have searched first not while i was posting but i found this....

GST and GST Spyder parts are interchangeable. I know this because I too always was concerned about specifically ordering parts labeled "GST Spyder". Then I realized as far as drivetrain, exhaust, suspension, etc. goes, it's the same. Like if you're ordering lowering springs/shocks for a GST spyder, just get them for a GST.

soooo problem solved

I really thought it was GST & GSX can share springs but not shocks (rear). Fronts are OK.

GST-Spyder cannot share shocks/springs with a GST due to the added weight springs or shocks. Other than that, the other components are OK.

If you ask me, I would recommend nothing more than a 1.5" drop. More than that, you will be scraping bumper all over the place.

No... spyders are heavier due to resupported windshield, and probably some other saftey precautions, this way, if you roll you spyder, you dont instantly crush your head. That being said, spyders are heavier than gst's. Do not get gst springs for a spyder, this will cause the springs to sag. Get awd springs for the added weight your car has. These have heigher rates, and wont sag.

like those guys said, just for confirmation from a spyder owner who lowered his car, get GSX springs for your spyder. I got my TEIN set from a site that starts with E and ends with Y for around 120 shipped........dont forget to get some spring compressors from autozone or advance auto for like 30 bucks..........that is, if your gonna do it yourself, which i highly recommend.

I just ordered a set of TEIN High Techs for a GST hardtop rated at .8 and .9 front and rear. I was doing some searching about a week ago and came across a thread were a Spyder owner installed the same set and after settling the total drop was 1.2 for the front and the rear. I can't seem to find the thread again though. I'll keep looking. My springs should be here along with shocks in a few days and I'll let you know how it went.

I just installed the set of Tein High Tech (gold) springs on my Spyder. They were for the Hard Top. They dropped the car 1.2 in the front and 1.4 in the rear. It rides great at that hight. Nice and stiff but not to harsh on the bumps. Makes a big difference in the corners.:dsm:

3053lbs vs. 2970lbs

Thats less than 85lbs. Its up to you, you can pick either fwd or awd springs. Most companies will use the same spring rates for both awd and fwd. So pretty much pick what you want or which is cooler looking:cool: (red, blue, purple springs). Ive used both awd/fwd spring and shock combos with no problems so ANY will work.

i think your best of getting the tein basic coilover set. the results are terrific. no body roll what so ever. launches without wheel hop. plus it looks great. what more can u ask for!
