Low rpm miss is driving me Nuts

I have a A/T 92 tsi awd talon. It is completely stock other than a boost gauge. MY problem: When I take off from a stop, or I'm cruising around town (35mph and below), my car sometimes gets a Terrible miss. It's so bad that I can't even maintain speed. If I put my foot down and floor it, it misses and stumbles along until it finally springs back to life. Like I said, It does it at a slow cruising pace so my boost is not even reaching 0 yet. Also as soon as it starts to miss the Check Engine Light comes on, and when it recovers, it immediately shuts off. And while I have not confirmed it 100% yet. I believe it does it worse and more often in rain or even humid air conditions. It never does it at highway speeds of 55mph or better.

It's not that big of a deal, but it does scare me sometimes. If I have to make a quick left at a green light and it stumbles along when someone's coming it give me a bit of a scare.

Have you checked plugs and wires? Replace plugs with BPR7ES NGKs and OEM wires. Sometimes washing under the hood will cause water to leak by the boots and stand atop the plugs. It wont evaporate. You have to remove the wire and blow them out. If you havent washed under the hood and have already replaced plugs and wires check the coil pack.

Usually if you notice carbon tracking the coil is breaking down. Carbon tracking is whenver the insulator breaks usually on the coil housing or the ceramic atop the spark plug carbon deposits will build up leaving black residue.

Try plugs and wires and see if that doesnt solve the problem. The fact that it does it when it rains etc strongly suggest a bad plug and or wire

My talon had exactly the same issue and was throwing a CEL code of 44 ignition coil. Two things 1 the coil was deteriorating and arcing between the towers for #1 and #4 and the module was going bad. 2 Both of these issues were caused by a bad ground wire to the module.

I replaced the coil pack and module and added an extra ground wire from the coil pack and module to the firewall problem solved.

I am wondering if your car stored a CEL code of 44 ?

I'd definately check those first, the chilton book shows an easy way to check codes. I had a similar problem a few years back and when I check the codes it was the Throttle Position Sensor.. picked one up and it ran great after that.
