1G lost 4th gear. need some help with this..

i recently lost my 4th gear, i drive a 93 talon 4g63 n/t. my reverse does the same thing. i can downshift into 4th but the second i give it any gas she spits it out. if i hold it in 4th with some force shell stay in but the second i let the shifter go it spits it out. i commute to work every day so i hope something major isnt going wrong??

id say that is definitely your synchronizers just skip from 3rd to 5th as often as you can so you dont make the synchro worse

yea synchros sorry bud.. 4th gears/ synchros are chewed up

Another real possibility (besides syncros) is a worn 3-4 shift fork. This happened to me with the same popping out of 4th symptoms: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/290238-popping-out-4th-gear.html#post151566175.
Of course either way the tranny must be pulled. First however check to make sure your shift cables bolted down solid at the tranny so they aren't moving around.

I would think a bent shift fork, too. Even with bad synchros you should be able to get in gear if you baby it. Spitting out of gear means it isn't fully in gear in the first place.
