I saw a couple articles close to the problem I am having and read there had some good ideas. but there problem wasn't exactly like mine so figure I will post here and say what I have done to this point. so a couple weeks ago my radiator blew out ad over heating then replaced radiator and I was still loosing coolant so then I tried my Radiator cap got a pressure one from autozone, then I replaced my overflow hose and my thermostat because I was still loosing coolant. after replacing my thermostat I noticed my car was shooting out like a geiser when I first turned it on with the cap off to top it off completely. then in the last week my over flow tank keeps getting sucked dry. and today on my way to work it over heated its about a 25 mile drive to work and I topped off my coolant before I lefted for work. any ideas or help would be greatly appreciate

Thanks
Josh

thanks the pressure test is pretty much what everyone else has told me thought I would check with everyone on here. but I havent seen leaking out of the hoses or anything at all except today when I got to work it was all dumping out of my overflow tank. I am gonna look into buying a pressure tester.

Thanks again

I am getting a compression test done tonight and i got a guy to help me out with the car if its the head gasket I was thinking about getting this some what rebuild kit off ebay can anyone give me there opinion or if they have heard anything about nippon racing I tried to do some research but all i found was a honda forum and they were all saying it was good from what I read. heres the ebay link

I wouldn't personally run those on my car, rather spend a little more and get a good quality product.

thanks that's what I needed to hear I was looking at cost efficiency at the moment but i was also thinking eventually I am going to a bigger turbo and injector which at this time haven't decided on which turbo but I know as I go bigger I need a stronger engine to be able to handle the boost and power. so I either spend out the money now as the engine apart and put better parts in it or I wait until I actually have the money. main concerns getting it running right now.

just to give an update and maybe help someone else out in the future possibly. so I was pretty sure it was the head didn't do a pressure check or anything but one of my mechanic friends said to check the head bolts and another noticed my overflow tank was down further then it should of been and also fixed my throttle position closed sensor that had broken off. after doing all of that over the weekend my idle is more steady now and some of my head bolts weren't torqued all the way. now I am not loosing coolant and so far seems good. thanks everyone for there input and hope this helps someone else out if they come across this thread and have similar problems.

on a even more positive note pulled a head off a 4g63t at the junkyard over the weekend gonna get it machined and start building it up so I still have a daily.

Thanks Again
Josh

I ended up finding the problem changed my head gasket and put arp head studs in, haven't lost coolant since also changed my waterpump at the same time. almost certain it was the head gasket didn't look bad but problem hasn't came back since I changed it so must have been the culprit.

there never was any mix in coolant or in oil, never had white smoke either. changed 3 thermos in 3 months when I retorqued my head studs it would be good for awhile unless I did hard pulls then it would eventually come back. now I haven't checked my coolant in awhile and when I do its always perfect

I know you got your problem fixed but just a head up.

Whenever you have coolant shoot out of the radiator (like you mentioned you did) when you crank the car over it is most likely a blown headgasket. It does that because the pressure in the cylinder escapes to the coolant system and pushes it out. That is a dead give away.

Good job on fixing your issue though.

wish You would of said this 7 months ago, but better late then never hopefully it will help someone else out if they come across this thread.

thanks again everyone for your input here

Glad to see you got it figured out. At least now you know. With the ARP head stud fix, definatley shouldnt be an issue again.
